Waking up after sleeping on a couch all night was a lot less uncomfortable than I had predicted. The memories of the night before flow through my head.
We had watched Kaido's choice of film first. Some movie about a high school boy who has superpowers from a spider. Of course Kaido picked a movie with a character who suffers from a literal hero complex. Y/N seemed to love the movie. She really liked the main character, and in her typical Y/N fashion told me about how attractive this 'Tom Holland' was, as well as how beautiful his girlfriend 'Zendaya' was.
After Kaido's film, Y/N attempted to talk me into choosing a film. I refused. I knew Kaido was interested in what I watched because he wanted to know more about me. Y/N on the other hand, just wanted us all to pick a movie each. After a bit of banter, Kaido looked at the time and realized he needed to go home. He left in a hurry after Y/N thanked him for coming, discussed Spiderman and gave him a hug. I don't know why but her hugging him had made me a little annoyed.
After Kaido had left, Y/N came back over to the couch and sat right next to me, despite the couch being big enough for 5 people. It made me feel warm, but not in a temperature way. It was odd. Y/N then asked if I could pick a movie since Kaido was gone and I reluctantly agreed. I eventually settled on a movie titled 'A Silent Voice'. Y/N got excited about it and put her head on my shoulder again. About 30 minutes into the movie I finally rested my head on top of hers, knowing she would tease me for it. When she didn't say anything, I looked down at her. She was asleep. I was interested in the movie now so I kept watching until 10 minutes away from the end when I turned it off. I hate endings. I never watch them or read them. I didn't want to wake Y/N up, so I decided to stay there. Eventually I fell asleep too.
Now awake, I realized we had ended up tangled together. I must have laid down in my sleep, and she must have followed me for the warmth. She was almost on top of me, her head in the small of my neck as she lay somewhat next to me. Her arm had stretched over me as she hugged me in her sleep. Her one leg was folded and rested on top of mine. My legs had tangled with hers and we were the equivalent of human spaghetti. I turned to look at her, our noses now touching. I got an odd feeling in my stomach as I took in all of her features. I lifted my hand and pushed some hair away from her eyes, and for the first time in a really long time, I smiled. I looked back at the ceiling, focusing on Y/N's breathing.
She let out a slight sigh as she rolled over. Before I could react she had fallen off the couch. I shoot up and stare down at her, expecting her to cry because she hit her head. Instead, the silence was interrupted by a soft giggling as she sat up.
"Of course I would fall off of the couch..." She sits up and rubs her head, her eyes still closed. After a second or two she opens them and we make eye contact. Our faces far too close. I swallow and teleport behind the couch to avoid the awkwardness of the situation.
"Good morning. I didn't know you stayed over?" She asked as she stood up, quickly straightening her clothes from yesterday. I nod as she looks up and smiles.
"What should we have for breakfast?" She asks, leading me out of the living room and to the kitchen down the hall. We stand there, looking over the kitchen for a moment before Y/N goes over to get bowls from the cupboard, presumably planning to make a healthy breakfast of sugary cereal. As she goes to put the bowls on the counter we hear a key click into the front door. Y/N freezes and tenses, shooting her head to look over my shoulder at the door. The key turns and the large doors begin to creak.
"Hello?"
It's her mum. I watch as Y/N's pupils shrink in shock as she drops the bowls, not expecting her mother home for a few days. In one swift motion, I move towards her, snatch the bowls before they hit the ground and grab her wrist, teleporting us into my room. We both fall over from the movement I was doing before we teleported.
I get up quickly and look at her. She sits up, her face hidden by her hair. Her mother always upsets her. I never really knew why she upset her so much and I didn't really want to pry.
Y/N quickly tucked her hair behind her ear and let out a quiet apology before standing up and coughing awkwardly.
"You don't have to apologize for anything." I said as I inched closer to her to offer some sort of comfort. She noticed this and scooted away slightly, not enough to seem rude, but enough that I would notice and take the hint she was trying to give me. "Do you want to do anything now?" I asked quietly, trying to make her more comfortable.
"Um..." She clears her throat before continuing. "Maybe we can go downstairs and get some coffee jelly? I know that always makes you feel better."
"It does but right now we are going to make you feel better, so don't worry about what will make me feel better please. What do you want to do?" I asked again.
She looked over at me, surprised. I guess she had been really lonely since she moved away. Wish it were the same for me. Stupid Kaido and the rest of them.
"Okay, what about we go out for pancakes or something?" she smiled weakly. I stared into her eyes, trying to analyse if she actually wanted to get pancakes or was avoiding her emotions and me.
She realizes what I'm doing and quickly stands up, once again straightening her clothes. This time, she grabs my wrist and drags me downstairs and out the front door.
"I know a good pancake place!" She leads me down the street and after a few minutes of me demanding to know where we're going and her ignoring me or saying something sly back, we arrive.
I gaze up at a bakery- café, thing? Before I have time to read the sign she has pulled me through the doors and into a seat.
I gaze up at the waitress who begins handing us our menus as her eyes linger on me a second longer than is normal. I can hear her mind going wild about how attractive I am and whether or not it'd be appropriate for her to ask for my phone number.
Y/N thanks the girl with a thin smile and watches as she walks away, her eyes finally meeting mine after the girl disappeared behind the counter.
"You've been here before?" I ask as I briefly scan the menu, searching for coffee jelly.
"Yeah, we came here for breakfast the morning we arrived back. I had the-"
She moves her eyes to my lips for a split second before racing to read the item off the menu.
"-the... The Panflake! It was really good!" She excitedly bounces in her seat as she reads the description out loud, and I can't help but smile at her.
