'how else am i supposed to cope damn it.'

every day just hurt more and more for tendou. he was turning 20 in two weeks. usually, birthdays are one of the most painful days for him to have to face. the feeling of not wanting to get out of bed grew heavy, the feeling of being alone claims its dominance of his hurting heart, the taste of sour words from his loved ones rings in his ears louder than any other days.

it was mostly because he didn't want to feel proud.

he didn't want to feel proud of himself for sticking around for so long.

and 20 years seemed like too long of a time to stay.

he shouldn't. breathing, waking up, eating (well, whatever he could keep down in his stomach and not throw it out 3 minutes later) wasn't something he should feel proud of himself for doing.

'it's just some bare necessities, everyone does it. you BARELY can.'

although he woke up in a little sour mood like usual, he still decides that maybe his morning still can be fixed. recently, tendou found a coffee shop just a few blocks away from his cheap and crowded apartment. the dump he calls "home" was so noisy, it didn't matter how many file complaints he sent to the landlord, the "couple" that lives next to his apartment won't stop bickering, shouting, and fucking.

'at least they occasionally have fun'

mentally chuckling to himself, he slips on a pair of worn out shoes and walks his way to the peaceful coffee shop. the place was rarely filled with people. he'd be surprised if three of the tables were occupied. the owner had a golden retriever that he lets chill in the coffee shop. one of the workers said "buddy", was only about 4 years old.

he opens the door and the bell above him lets out a ring.

"tendou! you want your usual?"

he gives the worker a smile as a response to their greeting and nods to their question. "coming right up, take a seat, it'll take 10 minutes. your sandwich's still cold."

he obliges.

once his name is called to inform him that his breakfast is ready, he stands and walks towards the counter. "careful tough guy, coffee's hot." the worker warns. he carefully grabs the coffee and the paper bag containing his now warm sandwich. he mumbles his thanks and leaves.

as he opens the door handle and steps out of the quiet coffee shop, he feels a certain force clash with his thin figure. his eyes widened as he realized that his cup of warm, or more like steaming hot, coffee isn't in his grasp.

as he looks up to meet the eyes of the person, who's mood he probably spoiled due to his clumsiness, he shakes a little, waiting for harsh words to be thrown at him. instead, his body shakes more once he finds a pair of kind and welcoming eyes.

your eyes.

"you like your coffee steaming hot huh?" your voice was trembling a little due to the sudden change in temperature your body had to endure.

needless to say though, he thought,

gosh,

they're beautiful.
