Dangerous or Should I Say Cancerous

"You and Joel are getting pretty close." I laughed but as my head shot up I'm sure my eyes dilated. There was Joel looking sexy as hell. I'm sure I was drooling. "Yea, ok your guys aren't getting close or anything," said Lauren sarcastically. I turned around and wiped my face just in case I really was drooling. His blonde skateboarder hair was wind swept and covering one his blue eyes. He started walking over to me and Lauren and I found myself panicking. "Do I look ok?" "You look like a goddess just like any other day." I bent down reaching for my toes and as I came up I saw him doing the same. Our eyes met and I found myself blushing and looking away. This was gonna be a long gym class.
~ Chapter 2
The whistle blew signaling the end of stretches. We all walked over to the nets and coach started dividing us into two teams. "Cecilia." He pointed to the right side of the net and I walked over to the group who had already gathered. "Joel." Coach pointed to the right side. Oh no. No, no, no, no, NO! "Lauren." He again pointed to the right side. Well, I guess its ok since I have Lauren. We set up into a four five. Four players in the front and five in the back. I was the first server. I grabbed a ball from the rack and came back into position. I closed my eyes and cleared my head of any distractions. I opened my eyes just as my hand connected with the ball. It soared over the net. Claire, a girl from my volleyball team, placed it right back over the net. Jenny, another girl from my volleyball team, hit it right back over. Johnny hit it right back over. This was it. It had gone over the net three times, if they dropped it, it was a point for us. Joel hit it back up. Then he bent down and cupped his hands. He called my name and I knew what I had to do. I ran up and jumped into his hand and was then able to strike the ball. It hit the ground. The gym erupted into applause and cheers. I stepped off Joel's hand and looked up into his eyes. They were such a pretty blue. It reminded me of the ocean. He was the one who broke the silence. "That was amazing," he said. "Thanks, but I couldn't have done it without you." I looked back into his eyes as he looked into mine. "Oh My Gosh!" squealed Lauren. "That was totally cool. How'd you do that? In like only 5 seconds too! That was so awesome!" She ran over to coach. He looked like he couldn't have seen what he had just seen. We all returned to the game. My side won 11-7. After changing, I looked around the gym for Joel. My heart stopped beating when I saw him. I was really falling. But he'd never like me. I'm just plain me. He turned around and his gaze fell on me. I waved him over and he said a quick goodbye to whoever he was talking too. "Hey," he said. "Hey, um I'm just gonna take you to the lunchroom and if you want you could sit at my table?" I asked uncertainly. "Sure, I'd love too." "Cool." With that said we walked down the stairs to the lunchroom. We got in line and I decided with a Caesar salad, a bag of Honey BBQ chips, and lemonade. He got the same thing. I walked over to our table to see everyone already there. Tris glared hard at Joel. I kicked him under the table. He looked up giving me a 'what the hell' look and I returned it with a 'back off' look. I started to introduce Joel to the other kids at our table. Jenny and Claire from my volleyball team, Molly and Sarah from my track team, Ethan from Tristan's soccer team, and Damien and Michael from Tristan's basketball team. After introducing everyone we all dug into our lunches. Sadly, Tris started the conversation. He asked Joel all kinds of questions from his criminal record to where he was born. I kicked him multiple times but he just gave me an annoyed look. I decided to show Joel my favorite place. I grabbed his hand in one hand and placed my lunch in my other hand. I dumped the tray as did he and I took him out the back door. I jumped over the fence and so did he. I ran past the lake and right into the woods. We ran a bit farther until I got to where I was hoping too. He gasped, the effect I first had. I sat down and patted next to me. He sat down too. "Wow, this is just wow," he said. "I know."
Joel's POV (Gym Class)
I walked out of the locker room and my eyes scanned over everyone. I saw her and I couldn't help but smile. She looked up and I saw her staring. When she looked down I smirked. That was the effect I had wanted. I jogged over and began stretching. She looked up again and I couldn't help but stare into her eyes. They were such a pretty green. They reminded me of a meadow. She looked down, a blush on her cheeks. The whistle blew and coach separated us into two different teams. I couldn't help but smile when he put me on her team. She served it over the net beautifully. A girl I didn't know hit it back over. Another girl from our team hit it over. Then a boy from their side hit it back. I hit it up but not over. I bent down and cupped my hands. "Cici," I yelled. She understood and ran into my hand. I brought her up and she spiked the ball giving us a point. All around us their was cheering and applause. She stepped off my hand and I looked into her eyes. They were such a gorgeous green, anyone could get lost in it. I broke the silence. "That was amazing," I said. "Thanks, but I couldn't have done it without you." I looked back into her eyes as she looked into mine. "Oh My Gosh!" squealed Lauren. "That was totally cool. How'd you do that? In like only 5 seconds too! That was so awesome!" Wow, I thought. That girl is on a serious sugar rush. Lauren ran over to coach. He looked like he couldn't have seen what he had just seen. We all returned to the game. Our side won 11-7. I quickly changed and walked out. When I didn't see her, I walked over to a group of guys. We started talking and they told me I should try out for sports teams. I said I'd think about it. I saw Cici walk out and she waved me over. I excused myself from their conversation and walked over to her. "Hey," I said. "Hey, um I'm just gonna take you to the lunchroom and if you want you could sit at my table?" she asked, a bit nervous. Why would she be nervous? "Sure, I'd love too." "Cool." With that said we walked down the stairs to the lunchroom. We got in line and she decided with a Caesar salad, a bag of Honey BBQ chips, and lemonade. I got the same thing. She walked over to her table as I dragged behind. Tris glared hard at me. I wanted to glare back, but that wouldn't get me on his good side. By the looks of it, she wouldn't go out with me unless her brother approved. But who was I to judge I did the same to my little sister. She started to introduce me to the other kids at our table. Jenny and Claire from her volleyball team, Molly and Sarah from her track team, Ethan was from Tristan's soccer team, and Damien and Michael from Tristan's basketball team. After introducing everyone we all dug into our lunches. Tris started to ask me all kinds of questions from my criminal record to where I was born. She grabbed my hand in her little one and placed her lunch in her other hand. I dumped the tray as she did. I followed her out the back door. She jumped over the fence and I couldn't help but gawk. Any other girl would have complained but not her. In one swift motion she was over it. I did the same. I saw a lake and thought we'd stop here, but she continued running and I followed her. She ran right into the woods and then stopped at the end. I gasped. She patted the place beside her and I happily sat down, as close as I could get without her suspecting anything. "Wow, this is just wow," I said. "I know," she replied in her beautiful voice.
