Before he can do anything, Angel gets yanked into the room by Jake. Vaggie slams the door shut, and Jake slams Angel against it.
"How much did you hear?" Jake glares at Angel, who starts to shrink down in fear.
"Oh, ya know, just the part where you're totally in love with the Princess," he stutters out, trying to keep his confident persona.
Jake slams Angel against the door again. "This doesn't leave this room. Got it?" Angel hastily nods. "Good. On that note," Jake slams Angel into the door again, much harder this time. "You made Charlie look like a joke on the news. Pull a stunt like that again, and I promise you, you'll wish you were dead again by the time I'm through with you. Do I make myself clear?"
Angel just nods again, and Jake drops him to the floor. Angel quickly bolts out of the room. "You think that was a little harsh?" Vaggie crosses her arms with a smirk at Jake.
Jake scoffs. "Fuck no," he says. "Asshole had it coming." Vaggie chuckles a little before grabbing the door handle.
"It's great to have you back, Jake," she says, a soft smile forming.
Jake responds with a smile of his own. "Great to be back." With that, Vaggie puts her usual expression back on her face before leaving the room, Jake quickly putting his mask back on. After about five minutes, he leaves the room himself.
He notes that it's still extremely early, so he figures that people won't really be awake right now. That's when he realizes that Vaggie visiting this early had a purpose. She didn't want anyone to listen in. Of course, that plan didn't really work thanks to Angel.
To start the morning, and to prove to everyone that he truly wanted to help, Jake quickly and quietly made his way to the kitchen in order to prepare breakfast.
He thought what better way to make a good impression than to make his special pancakes. Typically, he'd just put chocolate chips in all of them, but knowing how much Alastor and Husk aren't really fond of chocolate, he elects to have one batch be blueberry pancakes for Alastor, and another would just be plain pancakes, but he would make syrup infused with bourbon for Husk.
As Jake is hard at work, he hears some light footsteps approach, the clicking of a cane against the floor being heard as well. Jake immediately knew it was Alastor.
"Good morning, Jake," Alastor says as he sees Jake at the stove. "Preparing breakfast, are you?"
"Sure am," Jake replies, not taking his eyes off of the stove. "Just thought I'd try to make a good impression." Alastor laughs lightly before taking a seat. One by one, the other residents file into the room. Charlie and Vaggie were the last to arrive.
Charlie sniffs the air while taking a seat near Angel and Vaggie. "Something smells good," she says, a bright smile on her face.
Alastor turns to her. "Indeed. My associate has decided to prepare breakfast for us. His way of trying to gain your trust." Charlie's smile widens slightly, while Vaggie lets out a "hmph."
"It's gonna do a lot more than just breakfast to make me trust him," Vaggie says, smiling softly to herself.
"I assure you, my dear," Alastor says from across the table. "I believe you shall be acquainted soon enough."
Before another word can be exchanged, Jake enters the room, carrying two plates of pancakes in his hands, while the others float along behind him. Using his telekinetic powers, he sends plates to Alastor, Husk, Nifty, and Angel. He makes his way over to Charlie and Vaggie, placing their plates in front of them.
"Ah, you remembered my distain for chocolate," Alastor says, smiling at the plate of blueberry pancakes in front of him.
"Thank you," Charlie says, being polite as always. Jake takes a seat next to Alastor, which happens to be across from Charlie. Charlie glances up to see him just sitting there with no plate. "Aren't you going to eat anything?"
Jake looks down at the table, suddenly realizing that he had neglected to make himself a plate. He shakes his head. "No. I'm... Not hungry."
Charlie shakes her head. "Nonsense! Have some of mine," she says, pushing her plate towards him slightly.
He shakes his head, pushing the plate back. "While I appreciate the offer, Miss Morningstar, I must insist that I'll be fine." Charlie pouts sightly before shrugging and continuing to eat.
After a while, everyone finishes eating and Jake takes it upon himself to wash the dishes, with some help from Nifty per her own request.
Charlie still sits at the table, a sad smile on her face. Vaggie, still next to her, notices. "Are you okay, Charlie?"
Charlie sighs. "They remind me of Jake. The pancakes." Charlie lets a tear stream down her face while Vaggie wraps an arm around her shoulder.
Vaggie sighs. "I know. Same here."
Charlie engulfs Vaggie in a tight hug, burying her face in her chest, letting the tears flow much more freely. "I miss him..."
Vaggie shushes Charlie to try and calm her tears. "I know, hermana, I know. I miss him too." She looks over to the kitchen to see Jake still cleaning up from breakfast. "You better tell her soon, amigo," she thinks. "Before I do it for you."
