𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑳𝑶𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑫 𝑻𝑶 be able to bask in the sun once more, but the sun was setting, which meant Coalcap and Blacklight had to settle down. You had successfully made it to your cave with no interruptions and you haven't left the entrance since, too paranoid to risk an opening where the humans could invade your home and do the unspeakable.

You may not have met one yourself, but you've heard enough stories to be wary.

You had occasionally heard some commotion from the humans far down the land, but you wouldn't dare find out what was causing the creatures to make such ungodly noises. You weren't sure how many were now invading your island and you didn't wish to find out.

You were told that humans slept through the entirety of the night, and even then they still needed time after they woke to be able to move as a normal human would. Normally, it'd be easy to kill them during that time, but their brains could sense the danger and wake them up. It's better to avoid them.

"Hey, daddy," a small voice whispered next to you. Glancing down, you noticed it was Coalcap who waddled up to you, while Blacklight was watching not far behind, undoubtedly the one who sacrificed her brother to be the one to ask for food. "We're hungry."

Right.

You were in such a rush you forgot to catch anything in case you'd be staying in your cave for anything longer than a few hours.

Huffing, you looked up and examined the trees decorating the front of your cave, looking for any signs of humans. When you couldn't find any, you got up. "Okay, okay. I'll get you some food -"

The two pups immediately began jumping in glee before they tripped over each other and fell to the floor.

"- on one condition."

They deflated immediately, thinking they'd have to clean the cave while you were gone.

"Stay at the back of the cave and keep quiet. Can you do that for me?"

They perked up again, nodded rapidly, and bolted to the back of the cave and behind a rock before you could utter another word.

You grimaced, just now realizing what you had agreed to. You were almost hesitant to even go through with the promise. But, even if you didn't want to, your pups were prioritized over your discomfort.

After a heavy patrol around your cave and a lot of whining from your pups, you leaped off the top of your cave and glided in a random direction until you had to run.

You weren't sure where you were going. You were taking a huge risk by wandering off somewhere unfamiliar to you, but you refused to go to the lake you were at before you were, given the news. Especially if a human could be there.
