𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐍 to rise, and the two dragons had to part. Toothless left back to the camp while you resumed your search for Blacklight's stick.
When Toothless arrived, he found Hiccup leaning on a tree as he scribbled in his notebook. The great, ebony dragon stealthily crept to the man to avoid startling him. He nudged Hiccup away from the tree when he got close enough.
"Oh, hey, bud." Hiccup whispered, scooting forward so Toothless could lay behind him. Now that Toothless was close, he could see the bags under Hiccup's eyes. How long has he been awake?
Hiccup ignored Toothless' stare in favor of sketching. It was a rough drawing of the white dragon--it was undeniable. But despite recognizing the picture, Toothless noticed missing details.
The illustration didn't picture your features correctly--your ears were too small and too smooth, and the spikes on your forehead were too dull. After spending the night with you, he knew your features very well.
Eventually, Hiccup's sketching slowed until he was rag-dolled. His pencil made a small line on the page when it dropped.
Toothless would stay awake until the sun rose to the top of the sky. One by one, the rest awoke and began their daily tasks. It wasn't until Astrid greeted Toothless was the book found.
"Good morning," said Astrid, briefly patting Toothless' face. She leaned toward Hiccup and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "And good mo--" she stopped short, realizing Hiccup was asleep. Her eyes drifted downward until they met his hands. There, she saw the sketch.
Astrid looked closely at the sketch. She disregarded the drawing and flipped through the rest of the book, curious about what Hiccup was making.
Inside was an analysis paper. Astrid was perplexed by this, knowing they hadn't discovered any new dragons that would need analysis. But as she looked closer, she noticed the page compared to Toothless often.
Astrid was about to chalk it off to Hiccup brainstorming when she remembered the cave they encountered earlier. Toothless did seem interested in it, but Astrid believed Hiccup wouldn't keep something as big as this hidden.
They were dating, after all. Why would he keep something like this hidden?
Astrid puts the notebook and pencil back as it was and leaves Hiccup to sleep. One by one, the rest of the group awoke and began their tasks. Hiccup, however, was still dozing as the day went on. Toothless ended up trapped under the man while he slept.
"Okay," sighed Snotlout. "I'm waking him up. I'm sure the little boy needs his beauty sleep, but I'm starving." His tone was mocking, with hints of anger. He stomped towards Hiccup, fully intending to yell about his starvation.
