I have come up with so many titles for this story but none of them really click for me, it started The Pact, then to The Devils Favorite Atheist, ect. Read the description and maybe comment with a title? I would give you credit and dedicate the first chapter to you!
I have TWO versions, if one appeals to you more comment and let me know?
1.) Most people believe in God and Satan, however most would argue that they never, ever speak to each other. Reasonable thought, but wrong. While God was watching over one of his most dedicated children, he admires how devoted he was. Meanwhile in Hell, Satan is watching his most entertaining human when he comes up with the most genius plan. He makes a pact with God that his atheist could turn his religious freak, at first he blows it off, how childish. But Satan is persistent and knows all the right buttons to push, finally he caves. Will Satan or God win their pact? How will the loser take it?
Teaser:
Jocelyn watches as her strong leader traces the side of his finger along the portal to the other world, the real world. Oh, how she wishes to see the trees again but of course it was forbidden to even glance inside. Only one person was brave enough to do so, and now he is the most hated person in existence. "My Lord, any news from below?" she asks, clasping her hands together, head to the floor avoiding his gaze.
Those bright silver eyes don't miss a beat as he examines his youngest and most committed child, spreading his word no matter how hated it may be. "It's absolutely dreadful, the Twinkie is no more." He shakes his head in disgust, one of his most beautiful creations ruined by the greedy human he had entrusted it with.
"Oh my," she says under her breath, the memory of the golden sponge cake with its creamy filling making her mouth salivate though she no longer need food. Angels were naturally nourished; everything was given to them from flawless looks to healthy bodies. "Are you going to save them?" she mumbles, trying to avoid sounding demanding.
Rubbing the hair on his chin he seems to consider the thought, "It's plausible." He states in his holy voice, not a trace of weakness in his words; his eyes never leave the image in his fountain to the other world where he watches over his children.
All of God's children were important to him and though he never chose favorites, Benjamin was something special in his eyes he knew he would do great things. Gracelynn, ready for bed? He asks through the bathroom door though it was formed like a question little Grace knew all too well it was a requirement. Following orders like a solider in war, she exits the restroom and heads straight for her room, there was her big brother in his usual khakis and sweater vest match up not to mention the Bible in hand.
2.) Benjamin is the most religious person in his whole town, with a preacher for a dad, what would you expect? He is your average goody two shoes that comes off snobbish to people who do not have the same faith as himself. Whereas, Sage is known in town as the girl you just don't mess with. Sage has a very cruel sense of humor that only her best friend Brandon really understands, others will laugh but most times out of fear. Sage is also an atheist, ever since her mom passed. When they get put into a huge project together what will happen?
Teaser:
The tension was thick as the older woman's heels click across the egg shell white tiles, back and forth she pace waiting for the class to show her the respect she deserve. Most of the room was very aware of the awkwardness surrounding everyone, all but two students. "I'll wait," her voice was a screech, sending chills down their spine, she stares at the brown hair of a young guy with his face in the book very oblivious to the world around him. When the woman furrows her brow even further, his friend, Marcus kicks the side of his desk making Ben's head shoot up and acknowledge what was happening. Cheeks burning with redness he closes the most important thing in his life, his bible giving an apologetic look to his new teacher, her cold stare moves on to the next student.
"Sage..." Brandon whispers, everyone's eyes were on the girl wearing a beanie with her head down and music blasting from her headphones. "Please excuse my friend here, she uh, isn't feeling well. In fact I talked her into coming today, I was like girl you cannot miss the first day!" He lies, when he sees the teacher coming right for her. Feeling the pressure of the teacher just inches away he does the one thing he knows would get Sage's attention, no matter what the situation may be.
"What the fuck!" She bursts up from her seat with pure rage when her beanie is ripped from her curly brown hair, "Brandon, you penis loving asshole!" she yells at her best friend, snatching the hat back from him she was fuming but the dramatic gasp from the room combined with a very bony hand placed on her shoulder reminds her just where she was.
"Just because you are a senior does not mean you can use foul language in my classroom."
