Travis's POV:
I rested in my own bed. I saw the note from Brayden in Isaac's home I didn't ask him about it he would have said "oh that, ... its nothing really". He hates having people worry about him but sometimes he needs to just get over that. And there is always that pause where he decides should I tell them. He always chooses no. It was always that or some variation on that like "don't worry about that worry about this" or "does it matter". I sat and think back to all the times he's pulled that stupid it's nothing really on me. He has done that since we first met and I've always hated it.
It was eighth grade year, I was walking with Isaac as usual I was blushing at all the smart things he said not only from talking to my crush but out of embarrassment from how much I didn't know that he did. "Jeez Travis, how do you not know what peristalsis is?" "I don't know" "it's the way the esophagus moves to push food down your throat we learned about it last week you need a tutor I'd be glad to help you" "why not? sounds like fun and I might actually learn something". We never got to it until three years later and on the first attempt we ended up dating. I wish I had accepted sooner or asked maybe he would have said yes. He was always so kind to everyone, especially me. We had four of our seven periods together. I was walking him to one of the classes we didn't have together. I had class right next door to him but when we got there he looked at me and he lingered just a moment. Now that I think about it he was probably debating whether or not he should kiss me.
During the period someone came in and yelled "FIGHT" everybody rushed out. It turns out it was Isaac, Robert, and Brayden... Well in reality Isaac sat up against the wall holding the side of his face and Robert and Brayden getting along swimmingly. I walk over to Isaac "lets get you to the nurse" "why? oh this ... it's nothing really" all I remember at that was the pure moment of Really. I love him but I feel that was a stupid decision on his part still to this day. I grab his hand and he followed me to the nurse. She gave him an Ice pack and we moved on by the time we got out of there the fight was over they had two students carry Brayden into the nurses office and Robert came in shortly after to get an ice pack for his hand. That is what I always admired about Robert. He just seemed to innately know when Isaac was in trouble and would swoop in to save him however he saw fit.
"Isaac, what happened out there?" "well I went to the bathroom and on my way back I felt someone's hand on my shoulder so I turned around and next thing I know my face hurts and I'm on the floor" "that's it" "no then I hear a door open and Robert rushes out and starts to Punch Brayden so I prop myself up and wait for people to come out" in retrospect he was probably hinting that he was waiting for me to swoop in and be his prince charming and whisk him off to a mystical land of gumdrops and faeries. "why did you wait?" clueless as ever I asked "well I can't just leave my brother alone with that vicious animal" "we're talking about the same brother right cause I'm talking about Robert the one who has fought the whole football team, excluding me, at once and won, right?" "yeah but --" "no buts" "fine"
I walked him to our next class his cheek had started to swell and of course the teacher has to ask him questions about history when he can barley manage to say anything. He glared at the teacher every time his name was called. I never got asked a single question. We walked from class to class and never got asked a single question but he got asked so many it was probably because he knew the answer to them all with minimal effort on his part.
Then next day he came in with a black eye "Isaac, where'd you get the nasty black eye?" "is it that noticeable" "yes, but that wasn't my question" "Don't worry about how I got it help me figure out how I'm going to hide it" "Isaac" "does it matter in reality I got it no going back now" "seriously, ISAAC" "fine Brayden got to me on my way here because he got suspended and neither Robert nor I did" "Ugh I am so getting him kicked off the team" "NO" he seemed scared by that idea "I mean no" he regained his composure "then he'll have even more time to harass me" "fine, we'll do it your way this time but if it happens again I'm going to get him kicked off" "No, he ... he ... um Hey isn't he an important part of the team" "nobody that we can't replace" "but he'll um start fights with the rest of the team and then I'll feel bad" a trump card. He may be worth more to me now than the football team but back then he meant equal to only one player and all those players plus him being mad would hurt worse than anything Brayden could do. "fine I won't get him kicked off yet" "I heard that".
Later that week, I found out Isaac was arguing with Brayden again this time the entire team got involved. Both sides tried to drag me to their side. I eventually picked my football team and selected my fate for the next couple of years. I wish I had chosen differently but I can't change the past. He still looks at me sometimes and I remember all the rude things I said to him and I feel terrible

Quotes from Isaac: "Jeez, that happened three years ago Travis I don't care seriously if you had stopped reminding me I would have forgotten all about it but you never stop apologizing to me for it and I find it so annoying but you always find a way to make it up to me by being extremely cut somehow
