Leorio is a characther who only leanred ten however at the election arc he developed a hatsu much more complex then gon's..

I would like to think that he applied some of the skills and knowledge from medical school and tried to convert them into functional uses for his Nen. This would make sense with his current abilities.it's been confirmed in the manga, but I was really wondering if he learned Nen by himself from the very start. I think he did, that's why he's a bit behind his three other friends, on top of studying for being a doctor.

And what medical school did he go to?
