Kaito POV
-------------------------------------------
"A challenge? You must be serious. You even called me by my real name..." Maki said, a bit annoyed, because she just wanted to get something from her locker. Maki let out a deep sigh and stated: "Fine then, what is your challenge? It better not be anything stupid, okay?"
"Its not supid Maki-roll! Its simple really... We just start here-" I point at the beginning of the stairs to the second floor. "And on my sign we run to the roof! The first one there, wins!"
Maki looked at me, with a quite annoyed expression "And are there any rules to this game? Without any rules, we would just seem like kids..."
"I sure have a bright sidekick!" Maki was right, this game needed some rules... otherwise it would just be way to easy... think Kaito, THINK!
"U-uhh hmm a-ah! Uhm how about... the stairs... you uh, you can't skip any of the steps!" I said the first thing that came to mind.
"And that would make this more challenging... how?"
I didn't really have a reason to say it so I didn't really have an argument to defend it. But, I'm Kaito Momota! And for my sidekicks' sake, I need to be confident! "because you can't skip any steps... you can really build op speed the normal way... so you have to uhhh find another way to do so!"
"well if that gets me to my locker faster, I don't mind. Just don't expect me to go easy on you." Maki released what I can only assume a little grin, and took on my challenge.
By the looks of it, Maki likes to be challenged. But that wasn't the thing on my mind. "Hey, Maki-roll! You look damn cute when you smile, I don't see why you don't do it more often!" when I said that I saw a peachy shade appear on Maki's face. She tried to hide it though, because only seconds after I said that, Maki turned her face away from mine.
"Wh-whatever, can we just start already...?" Maki said, still trying to avoid eye contact.
"Ok! Leave the counting to me!" we both put one leg on the first step of the stairs. When we both looked ready I said: "Are you ready Maki-roll, cuz I'm gonna start the count!" I didn't wait for a reply, Maki is usually really focused in these type of things, and I wanted to give her a fair chance. "3... 2..." Watch out Maki, cuz I'm not going easy on you! "1... GO!!!" We both sprinted up the stairs. Maki immediately took the lead, since I kind of tripped at the first couple of steps, since I was still holding Maki's books, and I... wore my slippers to school today... Maki was already on the 4th floor when I realized that. I made my way to the roof, just walking. Obviously, I couldn't just lose my cool like that. "Hey Maki, that was pretty fast. Looks like you really are getting stronger! And its all thanks to my training!"
"I guess so." "But why did you stop? Did you trip or something?" Maki said, a bit concerned.
"i... I forgot that I was wearing slippers, so I kinda tripped on the first steps..." I said a bit embarrassed. "oh and I guess its also because I was holding these..." I hold up Maki's books.
"oh, well that's not very fair." I could see in Maki's face that she was kind of disappointed in the easy victory. "if you want, we can have a rematch. The gym probably has some better shoes for you too."
"That's not needed, Maki-roll! It was just for fun anyways!" "lets just go to your locker so we can go do some real training!"
Maki nodded. She probably also just wants to get to her locker so we could get to training.
We walked to Maki's locker, which was now only one stair down. There was some intense silence, so I decided to break it. "Maki, why do you wanna go to your locker in the first place?"
"I just need to grab my jacket. i put it in there at the beginning of the year, in case I ever forget mine." "and, well, I did." Maki muttered out the last part.
"You just wanted to grab your jacket?! jeez, Maki-roll, if that was all you could've just borrowed mine!" "We could have been training already, you know?!" I told Maki, almost a bit annoyed.
"H-huh?! Y-yours?" Maki said, embarrassed. "Why would I take yours if I can just go to my locker to get mine?"
"I was just messing with you, Maki-roll." I began. "But... if you ever forget yours, you can always ask for mine. You know that, right?"
"Let's just get to my locker so we can get training already. I don't feel like being here anymore." Maki said annoyed.
We went a floor down to Maki's locker to get her jacket, and then immediately went to the exit of the school after. "You're ready to get to training, maki!?" I said, more energetic than usual.
"actually, can that wait a bit..." Maki began. "I... I'm kind of hungry..."
"We can get some food on the way, Maki-roll! I know a place that has real good food!" "It's on the way anyways, so we would probably pass it, even if we didn't plan to eat anything!"
"Oh, It is? That's good to now, thanks Kaito." Maki Replied.
