When Padma first saw Trisha, she was just six months old, crying out of hunger in an abandoned room.
She fed her some milk but as she looked into her beautiful eyes looking up at her, all the meanings of love changed for her. She realised how it felt to have an intense inexplicable affection for someone unknown, how someone's smile could make her happy, how they could say a thousand words without even talking at all but just by looking at each other, that was love for her and that day she swore to protect her child."I could never make him happy, he is not good...he is not a good person" Trisha silently said in between her hiccups.
"Trisha, everything will be fine, Trisha look at me" she said placing her hands under her chin and looking into her eyes
"You, my girl, are a tremendous possibility. You don't have to make him happy, he is not worthy-""WHERE IS SHEEE, WHERE IS THE GIRL" Chaudhary barged in, kicking the oakwood door to add dramatic effects but hurting himself in the process.
Stumbling and then straightening up he advanced in the direction of his wife with his eyes bulging out of their sockets, meanwhile Trisha hid behind the pillars and ran down the corridor towards the guest room.
"Once I get to you girl, you just wait, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I COULD DO TO YOU!!" He shouted after her but the instant his menacing gaze fell on his wife, his expressions transformed from one of a psychopath serial killer to that of a creepy stalker grinning like a Cheshire cat.
"Padma, my love, you are here...." He sat next to her. Taking her hands in his hold he kissed her on the cheek. After looking at her face for a few moments, which was plastered with a forced smile, he let go of her hands. Padma looked at his back distastefully as he stood up to practice the same routine of shouting at people out of no reason but since today there was one, his voice hit extreme notches.
"Finally...YESSSSSS FINALLY I'M GETTING WHAT I WANTED.... AN HEIR!!! I ALWAYS GET WHAT I WANT..HAH!!"
After some more unnecessary shouting he settled down next to his wife again.
"Tomorrow is the big function in the celebration of the heir.. make sure to wear as much gold as you can, everyone should see how we royals celebrate, tell me if you want something, I'll bring it you and eat healthy" Chaudhary whispered into her ear and then shook her shoulders violently in encouragement.
"DECORATE THE WHOLE TOWN LIKE NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN... LIGHTS, FOOD, SWEETS, DANCERS, EVERYTHING!!! THIS SHOULD BE A CELEBRATION THAT NO ONE HAS EVER WITNESSED IN THEIR LIFETIME" he barked orders to the servants, who scurried away as soon as these words left his mouth.
"START THE MUSIC, BRING OUT THE DRUMS" he shouted in middle of his dancing which looked more like a rabbit hopping up and down.
Just as Padma rose to her feet, he held her by her elbow.
"Just to let you know, if you're lying, you know what i'm capable of, and also just for double checking I've called Dai ma" He looked into her eyes, searching for something
"you know her...right? she has been there for us for years, and she is never wrong, so be ready she'll be here in 3 hours.."An evil smile made its way to his lips as he left her and joined the others.
Panic stricken she slowly went to the kitchen, thoughts of repercussions numbing her rationality as she cut her fingers twice while chopping onions and once spilt all of the tea on her saree. This time it would not just be her, Trisha has to face the same fate too.
Three lives in danger because of one lie.
---------------------------------------------------------
After 8 cups of tea, 1 hour of strolling around the garden and a lot of brainstorming, Padma was still out of ideas, there was no way to stop Dai ma. Her predictions were always correct.
