Fugitives

The shortest route which conjucted Chaudhary's bungalow to the town lane was in complete dereliction. The deserted road was filled with exposed roots, spreading over almost every single inch of it.

The pain of thousand thorns penetrating into the sole of their feet never once unhinged their spirit as the royal fugitives fled, restraining themselves emotionally. The dazzling lights in the background became distant illuminations and the rhythm of their heavy breathes overpowered the music from the loud speakers.

Meanwhile...
It was quarter past twelve when Chaudhary's conscious finally hit him as an image of a pair of diamond anklets flashed in his mind, the ones he bought for his wife.

His journey through the corridor was one filled with fastidious observations and creative profanities being thrown at the guards with complaints about how dark it was out here and how it was degrading the palatial glory of his Bungalow.

Utterly oblivious to the escape that had happened behind his back; a smile made its way to his lips as a string of thoughts clowded his mind; him teaching his son to shoot, ride a horse, introducing him to his ancestry and his duties towards the town, meanwhile the two guards opened the door of the guest room for him.

The room opened up to hundreds of presents sprawled across the floor with no human presence.

"Padma... Padmaaaa.... where are you?"
Chaudhary was not a patient man.
"PADMAA!!!! Come here this instant, where are you?" After hollering her name for a few minutes and getting no response he turned to his guards.

"Where is she? WHERE IS SHE?" the guards visibly flinched at his sound, deep shock written all over their face.

"She might've fallen asleep in the next room.." one guard said.

Chaudhary marched off towards the next door and opened the room to find it empty too.

"Not here, did you two see her come out or were you two sleeping?"
Chaudhary asked and took a deep breath to calm himself down .

"No saab, we were awake the whole time, she didn't step out of the door, but...nearly half an hour ago Dai ma came here to deliver her some medicines. She left just a few minutes ago telling us not to disturb her sleep" The moment his bodyguard said this, Chaudhary spun on his heel and ran inside the room towards the wall next to the window, studying the outlines of the hidden door.

"NO, NOOOO...I WOULD KILL HER, SHE WAS LYING TO ME THE WHOLE TIME!!!" Chaudhary growled out and made his way out of the room. Walking down the corridor in fury he spat out orders at his guards
"Take two other men with you and chase down Dai Ma, she wouldn't have gone far, that sly hag." The guards nodded and followed him out of the oakwood door.

"GUARDS BRING OUT THE JEEPS, ASSEMBLE GUNS AND BULLETS NOW!!" Chaudhary shouted as he reached his jeep standing in front of the main staircase and latched out at his vintage airgun.

"YOU TWO" he shouted, pointing at the two jeeps "OFF TO THE RAILWAY STATION, WE'LL HEAD OFF TO THE BUS STOP AND OTHERS SPREAD OUT IN ALL DIRECTIONS... WE HAVE TO FIND HER AND THE GIRL"

---------------------------------------------------------

Padma was sitting on a bench at the railway platform taking deep breaths. There was quite a hustle and bustle on the train station with some people running, coolies following them with suitcases over their head and in both hands, a few people waiting for their trains.

Trisha was ecstatic to say the least. She was observing everything with intrigue as she occasionally took out biscuits from her pouch and ate them.

"Ma, where are we going?"
Trisha asked.
