Harry looked at his reflection in the mirror, trying to convince himself that agreeing on the double date was a good idea. Of course he wanted Niall to be happy, but acting as a straight couple with one of his best friends in front of the most problematic girl in the world didn't seem so tempting.
He sighed and sat down on his bed to calm down. It should be fine, right? Just one quick date and then he could go to Louis' place. Spending the rest of the night with him was his boyfriend's only request after he let him go on a date with Ellie, and he didn't have to say it twice.
A loud knocking on the door startled him and Harry took one last glance at his reflection. Showtime.
"Hi, girlfriend," he opened the door with a weak smile, but his features crinkled to a much more worried look as he saw the other person next to her. "...Liam."
"Hey H," he smiled at him, his eyes full of regret. They haven't talked since Harry announced his relationship. "I didn't know you'd wanna meet, if I came alone."
The curly headed one didn't say anything as the mixed feelings were fighting in him. He still didn't get over Liam's words which made him feel like he was only a problem, but he also missed his most important friend.
"Sooo, I'm gonna wait for you in the hall, my dear boyfriend," Ellie cleared her throat and looked at them in a meaningful way. "Try to make it up, okay?"
Harry nodded and stepped further from them, so Liam could walk in. The girl gave them both a kiss on the cheeks before leaving them alone. The boys were her best friends, since most of the girls kinda excluded her from their groups, thanks to Hailey. That girl was determined to ruin everyone's life who got close to Louis or her other victims.
"I heard your first date went well. Niall told me about it." Liam broke the silence in the end and sat down on the blonde boy's empty bed.
"Yeah, Louis made it perfect." The other nodded, staring at the ground. The short answer made clear how uncomfortable he felt, although it was just Liam. His best friend of more than four years.
Liam let out a tired sigh and started talking in a really gentle, regretful voice. "Look, I'm sorry. I was wrong, Louis has clearly changed and he wants to make you happy."
"I know," the curly headed one finally glanced at him. "You were just worried, I understand. But 'm not a child anymore and you can't protect me from everything."
"Yeah..." Liam nodded and he looked genuinely upset. "And you know that I didn't mean it like you're a burden for me. I'm sorry if it came out like that. You're my best friend, H."
"And you're mine." the other finally let a tiny smile appear on his face.
Liam stood up and opened his arms to hug him, before the moment could of slipped away. He didn't let him go for at least ten seconds and Harry didn't mind it at all. He really missed him.
"I'm dying to know about the details of the date, but I heard you have another one tonight," Liam laughed, when he pulled back. "I guess Louis can't kiss well, if it made you straight."
"So straight, just like my hair," Harry laughed with him, then shrugged. "I really want to help Niall."
"Always with the kindness."
"Always."
After they said goodbye, Harry felt like the weight on his shoulders got lighter. He didn't like to argue with Liam and his short apology was more than enough for him to forget the whole misunderstanding and revitalize their strong friendship.
Harry got into the taxi with Ellie and he didn't have to say anything about what happened; she knew it from the way he was smiling.
"So what's our story? Hailey's a smart bitch, we have to give her details."
