The tension in the air was almost touchable; faces in the crowd, closed fists in the locker rooms and nervous noises all reflected it.
Harry didn't understand the fuss, not even a little bit, but being the boyfriend of the most talented footballer meant he was expected at these events now as if he knew what was going on. Louis tried to explain how this championship between universities worked and why today was extremely important, but it was almost like listening to someone speaking in chinese to him. He heard the words, they sounded beautiful and meaningful, but the real information got lost in the translation and all he could do now was nodding his head and adding comments from time to time like oh right and damn or sounds tough. It didn't matter if he understood it anyway - he was there to support him and that was enough for the older boy.
Harry wormed through the crowd to get to the locker rooms and ignored the strange looks he received on the way. He walked down the corridor right to the locker room of the team of Norwich, and a smile immediately appeared on his lips as he glimpsed at him already standing in front of the door. The number 28 was pried on the back of the jersey, since Louis got more ripped lately, but didn't have the time to order a new jersey yet.
"Hi, 'm Harry Styles, big fan" he stopped behind him, whereupon the other turned around a bit surprised straightway. "I was hoping you'd have a minute for me."
A cheeky smile was his reward.
"Don't know. You're not the stalker type of crazy fan, are you?"
" 'm wearing one of your hoodies right now, so uh..." the younger boy puckered up his lips. "You tell me."
Louis let out a quiet laughter while stepping closer to fix the hood of the said piece of clothes. "Why are you here anyway?"
"Why, am I bothering you?"
"Yeah sure," Louis rolled his eyes. "You can't give me a moment alone, can you?"
"Obviously," he suppressed his smile, sinking his hands in the backpockets of his black skinny jeans. "I came to destroy our relationship by saying good luck and I love you."
The footballer looked up at the ceiling in total disbelief, but the deprecating glance didn't work out quite perfect as he couldn't help but smile in the middle. He felt the shade in the words and looking back now his reaction at the time seemed a bit ridiculous. He remembered well the way Harry blurted out the big three words accidentally back in october or so, when he had that pretty important match... the way he left him without an answer...
They were so not ready for a relationship, yet they fought it through and it was meant to be that way."Should I leave without saying it back, just to keep the tradition?" he lifted an eyebrow in the end, getting his favourite wrinkled nose-expression from the curly headed one as a result.
"Absolutely, if you wanna have your first ex-boyfriend by the end of the match."
Louis placed both of his hands on the other's waist and kept him in the trap of his arms. As if the younger one would of wanted to leave.
"Don't pretend you could ever live without me." he grinned at him, getting a snort right away.
"I could... I just don't want to, 'm not a fool."
"Sane people wouldn't even consider dating me. You're clearly stupid."
"Wow and I really came to wish luck to this prick. Mom was right, sometimes 'm too kind."
The older boy's sweet laugh was the proof that Harry actually succeeded at helping him to blow all of his worries away. The pressure was too much to handle, so the least he could do was distracting him for a bit and calm him down by only his presence just like Louis did it every single time a panic attack kicked in.
Louis leaned closer to finally taste that precious, fake-offended smile of him, when the deep voice of Samuel Hamilton startled both of them.
