                        Chapter Two: The “Others”

I withdrew Charmander from the scene so I could watch what was going to happen to Tony and Terrance. As I waited for this to happen Professor Oak lifted his arms up and the two large machines started to emit steam and they opened up. Once the steam cleared there were five Pokeballs sitting in little half-spheres that fit the bottom half of the Pokeball in it perfectly.

“These five Pokeballs contain the Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Squirtle, Totodile, and Cyndaquil!” Professor Oak exclaimed.

Tony looked at the Pokeball with the little flame Pokemon being held within it and instantly put a hand on it and said, “This one Professor.”

“What a great choice Tony.” Professor Oak said. “Now, Terrance, it is down to you to choose who you’re first partner will be on your journey.”

Terrance looked at the ball with Squirtle in it… He put his hand on the top of the ball and the Squirtle popped out and into his arms. Terrance was shocked at the fact and just stepped backwards away from the rest of the Pokeballs.

Professor stepped back up to the front of the three of us and said, “Now… There is one more thing I should probably tell you guys.” As he said that the lights went out and came back on and two other people were standing at his sides. One was wearing a blue hat with a pink sweater, she had long blonde hair, and deep blue eyes. The other one was yet again another girl… She had a very deep red hair color, and her eyes were a very light grey that matched her very well. She wore a grey tee-shirt over black skinny jeans and combat boots. Not what you expect to see a girl in… But both of them were pretty nonetheless.

“This is Mae,” said Professor Oak as he pointed at the red-haired trainer, “and this is Yui. They will be coming with you on your guys’ journey. But first, they must choose a Pokemon, much like both of you did.” Professor Oak looked at both of them and nodded as they walked over to the machine both seemed very coordinated in what they did and walked over to the completely opposite machines, Professor Oak then said, “Mae, has chosen as her first Pokemon, the Grass-Type Chikorita, and Yui has chosen the Grass-Type Pokemon, Bulbasaur as her first.”

Tony looked over at me and chuckled. He was thinking of the battling advantage me and him had over the girls. That wasn’t the way I thought. I always thought that even if a Pokemon had a type advantage against the other, doesn’t always mean it will win. A Pokemon’s strength doesn’t come from its typing. It comes from its will power and its connection to the trainer training it.  I was taught that by my Father… I haven’t seen him in a few years… Well… Not a few… Ever since I was born actually. My Mom always told me that he left to go on a journey much like the one I am about to start… She said that what happened was that a wild Beedrill had stung him and the Beedrills needle pierced his heart around the time he was near the Elite Four… He had no chance to survive.

“Okay, now that you all are settled and have your new companions. I want you all to take one of these.” Professor Oak said as he handed each of us some sort of electronic encyclopedia. “These are Pokedexs; they record the Pokemons data when you catch them, height, weight, gender differences, and all that.”

The Professor then looked at each of us and said, “All you do is hold it up to the Pokemon that you caught and it will record the data and tell you the information on that Pokemon.” “Now, how I about I give you guys your Pokeballs?”
