"that is not you," you scoff in disbelief, having snatched your phone from him as you squint at the person he was referring to.   "fine then, don't believe me. but what you can't deny is those are my two cousins right there. and that woman with them is my aunt. i told you layla ran away so when i told my aunt, she came straight away so she can look after her kids," he converses.

you curse, not able to deny that those two girls really looked like the twin girls that accidentally ruined that boy's ice cream.
"since you know how it went from my point of view, tell me what you remember about that day," you request. nodding at your command, jake begins to reminisce about that one spring day.

"aish layla!" jake ran after his dog, oblivious to what his cousins were doing. he didn't leave them unsupervised seeing as his aunt was already there because this was the second time layla had ran away from jake in public. when layla stopped by a specific tree, he was greeted by cherry blossoms blowing in his face. he bent down to layla's eye level, squishing her cheeks.
let me just text niki what time he's getting out school, jake pondered. as he pulled at his phone, you and jungwon took your seat at the bench by the tree.
layla twitched as she raised her leg. "yah, yah, layla not now" he jerked, standing up as his dog began to pee on the tree. this was at the same time that you had already walked over to that little boy so jungwon was left alone on the bench. too immersed in watching you, they had not encountered into each other as well.
he waited until she was done, his right leg bouncing up and down from the embarrassment. layla just had to pee in front of the one tree with a sign says no dogs pooping or peeing. thinking he heard the jangles of a policeman's key, he picked up layla and ran, bumping into his two cousins.
"oppa! oppa!" they cheered. jake gently placed layla down as he wiped the head of sweat that formed on his head. "you'll never guess what happened," one of them toothily smiled, licking her ice cream.
"some angel gave this little boy money and he bought us ice cream," the other one sang. he sniffed the ice cream, closely examining it with his eyes as the twins looked at him weirdly.
"what are you doing?" one of them asked as he took the cone that was in her hand. carefully tasting it, his face made a disguisted expression, handing it back to her.
"well it's definitely not poisoned, but strawberry is yuck. anybody with real taste would know vanilla's the best flavor," he criticized, the twins just shrugged as they continued eating their ice cream.

"so now that you know what happened, you gotta tell me why were you there again today," jake queries. you loudly exhale, placing your phone next to you as you sink into the cushions. you're very cute when you pout, he quietly observes.
"do i have to?" you whine, squeezing your eyes shut.
"well i mean, the fate of the world doesn't depend on it, but it would be nice to know  something about the soaking wet stranger wearing my clothes in my living room," he spouts. you two exchange looks as you snicker.
"alright, alright. well, my ex boyfriend took me there last year, it was my spot. and i kept on begging him to come with me so that day he finally did. i didn't want to come back, but something in my heart was telling me to, today," you confess.
jake's heart skips a beat as he sharply inhaled. "i-i'm sorry, i didn't mean to pry," he contemplates on pulling you in as you bury your face in your hands. sighing, he settles for rubbing your back with his left hand as you sniffle.
"what happened to not touching me?" you smile as he breaks out into a laugh.
"what happened to not coming back to your spot?" he chimes. the universe works in mysterious ways. i guess they really do believe in sending you things twice until you finally notice.
