Dabi inhaled the crisp air, liking how the cold burned his throat as he took a sharp intake of it.After all, he loved winter despite the fact that it made his burns dry up and crack, making him bleed all over and staining his outfit. Tsk, cleaning up the mess was always so troublesome.
The snow dropped down gracefully from the sky, making small white patches on Dabi's hair. He didn't wipe it off, letting it stay there. He was too caught up in gazing at the white and beautiful scenery before his eyes.
Sakura trees lined along the sidewalks of the park. The flowers' colour brightening up the dull snowy white in the background. Everywhere he looked was the colour white but Dabi never got tired of looking at it.
White always reminded him of ice and ice reminded him of his siblings: Fuyumi, Natsuo and Shouto.
I wonder how they're doing.
Suddenly thinking about his family left a bitter feeling in his mouth when his father came up on his mind.
Enji Todoroki, also known as Endeavour. He was the Number 1 hero but what kind of hero was he if he abused his family?
It was all because of him that Dabi's body was half covered in burn scars and pretty much why his mom also went mad and burned Shouto.
Thinking about his mom made Dabi feel homesick. How many years has it been since he left without a trace? How many years has it been since he last saw her? He swallowed nervously, trying to think of other things.
But those exact thoughts were also one of the reasons why he loved winter.
Despite being beautiful, winter was harsh and brutal in many parts of the world. In some places, it was so cold that one could die from frostbite.
Winter reminded him of his past and reality. Reality is like one big knife that just keeps stabbing you in the back. Hell, it stabs Dabi even harder than the one time Toga stabbed him.
His childhood was literally shit and being in the League of Villians and having pretty much all the heroes in Japan trying to capture now wasn't ideal either.
This was Dabi's reality and he actually liked it that way. Being able to know the harsh truth than knowing a sugar-coated lie was better, which was exactly why he hated spring.
Spring was nothing but a sugar-coated lie to him. The easygoing season made him sick to his stomach. The atmosphere then was so happy with all the flowers blooming and everyone rushing out to see them.
Dabi could not possibly fathom what was so good about the flowers blooming. Sure, they were pretty but that was it. In the end, they would just wilt and die. Just like a person's life. Just like Touya Todoroki's life.
Touya's life like a blossoming flower had burned out and died and from the ashes rose its remains: Dabi. Now, a cold and hard flower was in place of the soft one before and Dabi would not let this flower fade away.
Not only that, spring was when the abuse first started. This was especially why he hated spring.
That is until Hawks came along.
He just bursted into Dabi's life and though, he'd never admit it, he fell for the hero the first time they'd met.
With his hazel eyes, perfectly tanned skin, good figure and a charming personality, Dabi fell for the hero hard.
Furthermore, Hawks was like the sun. Always shining brightly onto Dabi's dark nights. Bringing warmth to that cold heart of his and showing him what it felt like to be loved.
A feeling that the villain had not felt in such a long time. So, he fully welcomed and embraced it, also finally knowing what true warmth was like.
The warmth that Hawks gave him was not like the warmth that came off in waves from the cerulean flames that Dabi could summon.
While his flames brought forth destruction, Hawks' one brought love.
Hence, the villain came to love spring. All because of one hero.
Dabi scoffed. He'd really gone soft.
Speaking of which, where the heck is that birdbrain idiot?
As soon as Dabi thought that, he saw a flash of red and a figure went crashing onto him.
"What the fuck, Keigo?!"
Dabi pushed the hero off him, prepared to let out a long string of curses but was silenced when he heard Hawks' laugh.
Oh, how he loved the sound. It was like music to his ears. Even after hearing it a thousand times, Dabi could never get enough of it.
"Hey, why are you staring at me?" Hawks questioned, leaning forward so much that his face was awfully close to Dabi's.
"I'm not."
Hawks leaned even closer. So close that Dabi could probably even count the number of eyelashes his boyfriend had.
"Liar," The hero said, a lazy and playful yet beautiful smirk playing on his lips.
Before Dabi could even protest, he felt a pair of lips on his. He immediately wrapped his arms around the hero, pulling him closer and deepening the kiss.
Much to the villain's disappointment, Hawks pulled away before the kiss could escalate to a full-on make out session.
"Kisses later, I got a surprise for you," Hawks said, eyes shining with excitement. He really hoped that the other would like it.
"Alright. What is it?"
"Close your eyes."
Dabi raised his eyebrows. "Seriously?"
"Just do it, Dabi."
"Fine, fine." The villain obeyed unwillingly, huffing in annoyance now that he couldn't see that pretty face of his boyfriend.
After a painfully long 2 minutes of waiting, Hawks finally said, "Alright, you can open your eyes now."
Dabi was not prepared for what he saw.
Hawks was holding out a bouquet of flowers of all sorts. There were violets, daisies, lilacs, daffodils, tulips and many more. All the colours mixed together, making the flowers look breathtaking.
It's beautiful, Dabi thought.
He took it, smelling the fresh scent of the flowers. It smelt like spring. It looked like spring.
"No more winter, Keigo. You brought me spring."
When Hawks saw the smile that formed on his lover's lips, he couldn't help but fall for the other all over again. It was such a rare sight to see Dabi smile and a genuine smile that was full of euphoria, at that.
"You like them?" Hawks asked, stepping closer.
"I love them," Dabi replied and pulled his lover into a hug after placing a chaste kiss on the hero's lips.
"They're beautiful. Thank you, Keigo."
"Mhm, glad you like it."
"I love you, Keigo."
"Love you too, Dabi."
