Nakidori Sensaina x Hawks
Part 9
Nakidori took a step back, looking out at her work. Not only did she manage to make a great meal for date night, but she had managed to do it without burning anything or making a mess of her kitchen. Today was already seeming to be going her way. Not only this, but seeing as she still had thirty minutes until her date arrived, she decided to take this moment to retreat into her bedroom and slip into something a bit more... eye-catching.
While she was certain Hawks wouldn't care if she was dressed in her baggy attire, she wanted to make him a bit unnerved form the outfit she had picked out one day this week when her lunch hour was seeming way too long.
She wasn't the type to usually buy these sorts of outfits, but if she was being honest... her confidence in herself and her own inner attractive woman had been rather active as of late. Maybe it was because she was finally dating someone who didn't make her want to pull her hair out, or that Hawks just really understood how much time and dedication a hero career took, unlike flames of the past.
But with this cute and pretty slimming and short dress laying on her bed, Nakidori was ready to test if she and Hawks were really on the same wavelength when it came to this relationship.
She had been leaning towards a yes on this question after Hawks had agreed to this date night. Instead of going out on the town like the pair usually did, Nakidori purposefully had invited him over for a night at her place, dropping the word 'Netflix' hoping the code word would make his ears perk up and turn a little pink from what she was slyly asking for.
Slipping on the red dress that made her feathers seem to glow, Nakidori gave herself a glance over in the mirror. It wasn't a dress you'd wear when you went clubbing or anything similar, but it certainly wrapped around her curves and brought out her natural colors and tones better then any t-shirt and sweatpants could have.
Giving herself one last look over and then nodding determinedly to herself, Nakidori walked back out into the living room. Dinner was still warm in the oven, she had bought a nice bottle of wine, and she was looking good. If Hawks didn't understand where she was trying to direct this night towards... he must be either stubborn, stupid, or terribly tired from whatever hell his patrol put him through today.
Nakidori paused for a moment, remembering the patrol he had mentioned he had. His promise to come right after and see her, making her feel a bit guilty all of a sudden. Was now really the time to ask him to come over? What if he was tired and just wanted to sleep, but felt obligated to come over? What if he was hurt today and couldn't bear to disappoint her, thus he came and tried to hide it as to not make her upset.
Nakidori shook her head. No. That wouldn't happen.
When both of them had decided they were to officially title one another as 'significant others' they had also decided to put some rules down as to not feel weighed down by hero work or lose interest in what was a relationship both were interested in because of work.
Thus, if you were tired from work, hurt from work, or just needed some space after work... you were allowed to cancel. Of course, neither was going to make a habit of canceling so much, but then again... hero work was life or death at times, and thus sometimes you needed to put yourself first.
So Nakidori knew if Hawks needed that time to himself, he would give it to himself. He wouldn't push himself through pain to make her happy, as she wouldn't for him. Because as heroes, both knew... eventually, the pain you kept inside, would become the pain of others when it reached its breaking point inside of you.
