The light and dark weavers decided to push back their class's graduation at least a few weeks. Only after the entire class came to them with a unanimous decision. They weren't ready. They weren't ready to watch the young boy die from the injuries caused by the shadow. They would see worse out in the world without their teachers to protect them. So they would be waiting to graduate until they thought they were.

After the difficult mission, the two senior officers decided not to take the students on a third mission in 24 hours and let them sleep. Though few would be getting any actual sleep. Most likely the boy would haunt them whenever they closed their eyes. They didn't know what to do about that though. They couldn't save everyone, as hard as they tried. Ivar and Delaney decided to take a class that had already graduated but stayed at the outpost to the girl's house.

They packed their transports, and left, telling the resting class to make sure they woke up in time to get to the canteen to eat.

"They'll be ok," Delaney assure Ivan.

"I know they will be. But right now, are they?"

"Probably not. It's always hard to watch someone die like that, even when you've seen it dozens of times."

He nods, "And we're fine."

"I don't know about that," she laughs, "But we can still cope. We'll give them a mental evaluation after we get back. Will that make you feel better?"

"A bit," he nods.

"Good. Now let's go."

They climb in the transport and take the trip in silence.

Once they reach the edge of the woods, they fan out, looking from the place they found her for her house. It wasn't hard to find, though it wasn't an intentional find either. They just followed the smell of smoke.

"Dear God," Delaney mutters to herself when they reach the cabin, "What is going on here?"

The scene before them looked hellish. There was fire blazing blue at the bottom to red higher up, its ghostly shadows dancing to a haunting tune.

"Wait, fire doesn't have a shadow," one of the graduated students pointed out, face pale.

"That's..." the other student breaks off but the senior officers see it then too.

"Shadows."
