05. Hedgehog Hive

"Who's there? Is there anyone there?" Just the silence answered Byeol. Byeol was wondering if she was just hallucinating.

But slowly she saw a shadow walking out from behind that tree. Showing a boy, the boy is lowering his head to blocking Byeol from seeing his face.

"Ah, that's really someone here." Byeol's relieved, it turns out she's not hallucinating. She keeps trying to look at the boy face, because the boy looks familiar to her. But the boy keeps turning his face.

"Aren't you Choi Beomgyu? We met at the convenience store a few days ago." Byeol asked politely, hoping to get answers from Beomgyu. But Beomgyu covered his face again with both his hands. Made Byeol become more confused.

Then Byeol remembered something Soobin said about Beomgyu that Beomgyu might have heard back then. "I'm sorry, Soobin called you a freak kid back then."

Beomgyu was surprised by Byeol's apology he had never expected and he turned to Byeol. Beomgyu has been called as a freak by his schoolmates all this time, but no one ever apologizes to him. Byeol was the first person to do that to  him.

"No need to apologize, you didn't call me that."

"What are you doing here?" Beomgyu initially hesitated to answer the question, but since he's already stand before Byeol. He decided to tell Byeol.

"It's a secret, I don't want to tell anyone, but since you're here, I'll tell you." Beomgyu pointed out a place behind that tree.

Behind it is a place to rest, its roof is made of bushes and branches of wood standing upright to hold the roof. while the floor is lined with a cloth carpet.

"Wow, did you make this?" Beomgyu shyly nodded his head. "You're great at making a hive like this."

"A hive?" heard Byeol call his hideout a hive, Beomgyu put on a surprised expression and didn't believe in what he heard.

"Yes, it looks like a hedgehog hive. A beautiful hedgehog hive." Byeol showed her innocent expression and smile when she answered Beomgyu. But when she realized the expression Beomgyu showed, she felt she had said something wrong. "Sorry Beomgyu, are you mad I called it a hive?"

"No. Thank you for calling it beautiful." Although Beomgyu was initially surprised to hear Byeol call it a hive. But when Byeol called it beautiful. Beomgyu likes it, glad someone has praised something he's made.

"You want to go in?" Beomgyu offered Byeol to go in, but the expression that Byeol showed was like asking 'Can I come in?'

"Because you already know my secret, you can come in." Byeol smiled with the answer Beomgyu gave and they both went into the hive.

Byeol watched every part of that hive, sit down and try to make herself comfortable. She saw some of the book next to her and grab that books. "This book is yours?" Beomgyu hummed took some book and sat not far from Byeol.

"You can read it. If you like." After hearing that, byeol enthusiastically chose the book she wanted to read and began reading.

Soobin just got home, after a little trip looking for a present to give to Byeol. He's pissed off because he just found out that day was Byeol's birthday and rushed off to buy her a present, but since he didn't know what present would suit Byeol, he finally bought a hair tie with a small star on it.

"Grandma, where's Byeol?" Soobin saw his family in the kitchen cleaning up the rest of the surprise party for Byeol. Make him felt more sad to have missed the surprise party.

"She just got out awhile ago?" Heard Grandma's answer, without wasting time Soobin went straight for find Byeol.

Day has already begun dark, Byeol and Beomgyu decided to go home. "Thank you for allowing me to get into your hideout." Beomgyu felt blushed with Byeol's words. He never thought Byeol would talk to him or even read a book with him. Beomgyu again lowering his head while stealing a sight at Byeol who was still standing next to him with a smile that never came off her face.

"Um... your name is Byeol, right? Yesterday I heard Soobin  call you that."

"Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, yes my name is Jung Byeol." Byeol reached out to Beomgyu, Beomgyu reached out slowly Byeol's hand to greet. "Okay Beomgyu, will you be my friend?"

Beomgyu didn't believe what he's just heard, someone asked him to be their friend. So far, all his schoolmates refused to make friends with him. But the girl in his presence is without a doubt, wanted to be his friend. Beomgyu in doubt and fear that it wasn't real. "Are you sure?"

"Is there a reason for me to not sure? You are a good person, why I shouldn't be friends with you? Or you don't want to be friends with me?".

"Of course i want, it's just..."

"All right then, I'll see you again." Beomgyu was cut off by Byeol that went after saying goodbye.

Beomgyu just stand there, he keeps staring at Byeol who started to walk away, she suddenly stop and turn toward Beomgyu, waving her hand to Beomgyu and Beomgyu wave his hand to Byeol too. But something caught his attention, there is a big hole near Byeol, and it seems like Byeol are not aware of that hole. When Byeol almost walk into the hole, Beogyu immediately ran as fast as he can to Byeol.

"Byeol ... Watch out!"...
