Part 3 - Potions & Pricks

Tuesday

"Ugh that's not even true! I wasn't checking him out!" I lecture Lily, Marlene and Mary who have been teasing me all day long.

"Whatever you say Mrs. Black!"

"Another victim of his charm! Please come back to us Lovey!" Mary and Marlene tease.

I make a face at the two girls while we continue to walk down the hallway towards our last class of the day, double Potions.

"Just let it go you tossers."

"Ouch" Mary dramatic leans against Marlene's shoulder, "We've already lost her."

I scoff and walk ahead of the two girls to stand away from them and closer to Lily who is laughing.

"You know they're only teasing you because it's so unlike you." Lily smiles.

A moment of genuine confusion crosses me, "What do you mean?"

"Well," Lily pauses, "I mean it's not a bad thing it's just, you don't typically tend to... I dunno talk about boys or even look at boys honestly."

I slow my pace, bewilderment now clearly evident on my face, "What?"

"Come on J! When was the last time you liked someone?" Lily returns.

I scoff again, "I have...crushes. I mean it was...Oh I know it was Ted!"

Mary now appears next to me throwing an arm around my shoulders, "Tonks? Merlin Jade! that was first year."

"Yeah well he graduated so I couldn't very well continue liking him could I?"

"Sure, yeah, that and he's married!"

"Clearly a short lasting crush." I bluntly reply, annoyed.

"I think we should all stop making fun of Jade," Marlene starts.

I respond, exhausted, "Thank you!"

Marlene continues, "Maybe she just plays for the other team."

"You guys are so annoying."

"What? I'm serious, you can tell us Jade! I'm waiting for the day when every single one of you guys come out as gay. Plus, I might even be willing to take you on a date." Marlene teases.

Mary interrupts, "And how would that go over with Dorcas?"

Dorcas Meadows was another 7th year Gryffindor. Marlene and Dorcas' love for each other was painfully obvious to anyone who gave it a seconds thought. However, they were both completely in denial of the other girl's feelings.

"Oh shut up." Marlene counters as we approach our destination.

We walk in the classroom. Being some of the first students to arrive I grab a seat at a table upfront with Lily. Mary and Marlene take the desk next to us. I'm thrilled that Lily agreed to be my partner again this year because Lily is pretty amazing at Potions and I actually enjoy potions when I do it with her. I'm was also grateful because having two periods of Potions back to back tends to be terrible when you have a bad partner. Lily and Jade chat as the class begins to fill with noisy students.

Slughorn's voice echoes through the room from the back of the class, "Alright class welcome back I hope- oh nice of you to join us boys."

I turn to see James, Peter, Remus and Sirius stumble into the room. Remus seems rather annoyed while James and Sirius hold in laughter, not very well might I add, and Peter glances around nervously. James and Sirius sit at one of the two open desks at the back of the room and Remus and Peter sit at the other.
