"Oh. My. God." Lily's mouth gapes open.
Lily, Mary and Marlene are all sitting on my bed watching me as I stand in the open space in our room.
"I know, I know bu-"
"You're insane!!" Mary interrupts, "I love it!"
I give a small chuckle while shaking my head.
"What happened to 'I hate Sirius Black'?" Marlene does a terrible impression of me.
"Ok I never said that but it's still true. Just because I agreed to this bet doesn't mean I like him. In fact I hate him more now." I blurt out.
They all look at each other, astonished.
I continue ranting.
"Anyway this is good. It's not like either one of us are gonna kiss the other anytime soon and after a little he'll just give up and leave me alone. Plus, this way I can show him girls aren't just objects he can use."
"So really she's trying to make Sirius Black fall in love with her for the good of womankind." Marlene mocks.
I roll my eyes.
"You clearly don't know Sirius." Mary says lightheartedly.
"What do you mean?"
"You really think Sirius is just going to let this thing go?" Lily responds for Mary.
"You've fallen right into his trap. This is the kind of thing Sirius loves, playing games with girls." Mary adds.
I sigh.
That could be true. I think I'm just trying to make myself feel better by saying it'll be fine. I mean maybe it will but... I shouldn't have agreed. Ugh he just really knows how to get under my skin.
How far is Sirius really willing to go?
Tuesday
I sit down in my spot in the back of the Potions classroom. I'm dreading seeing Sirius. I've walked by him and made strangely intense eye contact a few times over the past few days but we haven't talked at all.
I'm scanning over my Charms notes when Sirius lazily throws his books onto the table and slumps into his chair.
I see him glance at me from my peripheral vision but I don't look up. I notice as he straightens his posture slightly and brushes through his hair with his fingers a little.
"You look nice today Jade." Sirius proclaims.
I turn to him with my eyebrows furrowed, a disgusted look on my face. He smiles in a forced way.
"Uh...okay." I manage.
I see his expression fall a bit before he smiles again and opens his Potions book.
Slughorn commands the attention of the class and begins his lesson on Polyjuice Potion. It's quite an interesting subject. At the beginning I expect the lecture to be ruined by Sirius trying to distract me or make jokes about the bet but he doesn't.
In fact I basically forget he's there until Slughorn tells us that we're going to have to make our own batch of Polyjuice with our partners. Slughorn informs us that it's a long difficult process to brew this draught. He says we're going to have to check on it a lot, specifically at night.
"The potion needs a lot of moonlight in order for it to work so I will get you all passes to check on it every-so often after curfew." Slughorn informs us, "For now, you can work on the base of this potion."
