*Beep beep beep* went the alarm clock. Day 3 of this horrific nightmare, Kaitlyn thought as she struggled to get out of bed. Her ankle was throbbing from the fall yesterday. She went to go ask Diane, who was in the kitchen making breakfast, for an Ace Wrap and some medication so she wouldn't be in to much pain. The only problem was, she knew Diane would want to know why she needed it, and Kaitlyn couldn't bring herself to tell her the truth, so she lied.

"Good morning Kaitlyn!" Did you sleep well?" She asked with excitement. "Uh, sort of" Kaitlyn responded with a groggy, almost sick voice.
"Um Diane, I sort of sprained my ankle yesterday and I need to wrap it."
"How did you do that? Are you okay "
She asked as her voice suddenly turned to concern.
"I'm fine, it was just an accident, I- I kicked the ball wrong while playing soccer yesterday, that's all." She lied.
"Oh, of course. I'll get you something to wrap your ankle." She said with relief.
"Th- thanks" Kaitlyn stuttered as she felt sick lying to Diane like that.
"There you go!" Diane said as she wrapped her foot and handed her lunch for the day.
"Oh my, you better get out there. The bus will be here soon. Have a wonderful day at school!" Diane shouted after her.

Kaitlyn walked down the driveway, waiting for the sight of that big yellow bus to come around the corner. In her last school, Kaitlyn was a good student and she had always enjoyed school and had a perfect attendance every year. But for the first time ever, she was revolted by the thought of even stepping one foot inside those gates. Because of what happend yesterday, she knew she had to watch her back and try to avoid any contact with her bullies. The words of Ryan's voice sickened her and filled her with an aching feeling in her gut.

Her thoughts were interrupted suddenly when the bus honked for her to get on. As she piled among the high schoolers with frowns plastered on their faces, she sat in the back, sinking into her seat. She knew no matter what she did to try and escape or avoid them, Ryan and her gang would always find a way to harass her. They were the hunters, and she was their prey.

1st and 3rd period, where she had Stuart and Liam, 2 of Ryan's toadies, felt like it would never end. They were secretly passing notes to her that said things such as "Ryan's not done with you yet" or "your dead meat." Things that made her want hide away forever. Kaitlyn felt like reporting these to the teacher, but as she remembered her dream and how that administrator didn't even acknowledge her on the first day, she felt like they were utterly useless at this point.

By the time lunch had rolled around, she scrambled to the cafeteria, with her stomach growling because she ran out of the apartment without eating breakfast. She tried sitting with other kids, but they didn't let her because she still had no friends. So she ended up sitting at a table alone that day. She kept looking around nervously for Ryan or any of his friends so she could be ready for anything they tried to pull. For some reason she wasn't too worried right now. Perhaps it could be because they had only attacked her when no one was looking and that they didn't want to get caught by an administrator.

Lunch was almost over and nothing bad had happened so far. Kaitlyn felt a little relaxed by now. She packed her lunch away and waited at the table for the bell to dismiss her.

And then suddenly....

*SMACK*

Ryan's big hand came souring down on the table, startling her half to death. "Heyyy Kaitlyn," He said sarcastically, grabbing her head and rubbing his knuckles on her hair roughly, as the rest of the boys crowded around slowly. "N- no, leave me alone Ryan," Kaitlyn said as she pushed his hand away. She tried not to show fear as the boys all chuckled in a malicious way. She could feel her heart start to beat faster and faster. By this time the whole lunch room was turned toward Ryan and there attention on Kaitlyn. She could feel her cheeks sting with embarrassment mixed with anxiety. Ryan got down close and whispered in her ear, "You made a fool of me once and I'm not going let you get away with it. If you thought we were hard on you before, then get ready. I hope you have good life insurance, cause that was just the Preview."

Small chuckles rose from around the cafeteria as Kaitlyn felt dizzy and nauseous all over again. Amused by the crowd, Ryan then took a milk carton and dumped it all over Kaitlyn's head. The cold liquid made her jump out of her seat and slip. She watched as the kids all laughed and not one of then came to her aid. She looked up at her bullies grinning and laughing. All but Ryan, who was pricing at her with his green eyes as if to seal her death in one silent stair.

Kaitlyn felt like fainting, when all of a sudden a flash of light from the window blinded all of the boys, including Ryan, who wasn't even looking up. They stumbled back and some of then slipped on the milk that was spilled while two of the boys knocked into a trash can, spilling the wet garbage on them. And just like that the flash was gone and laughter suddenly exploded even louder then before. This time the attention was on Ryan and his gang laying on the cafeteria floor, covered in garbage and milk. They all had a sight of shock mixed with discomfort as they lay on the ground.

When Kaitlyn could see they that Ryan was not looking at her, she made a dash for the door and quickly ran outside. The bell had rung and everyone was forced off to their next class. Everyone, except Ryan and his toadies, who were sent to the nurses office to get cleaned up. Apart from that they also had to clean up the mess they made in the cafeteria. By then the school day was over and Kaitlyn wasted no time rushing to get on the bus. She was still trying to comprehend what the hell had just happened in their.

When she got home she walked inside and closed the door behind her ever so softly. Diane and George were sitting on the couch watching TV. When she walked past them Diane sprouted up onto her feet and asked "Hey sweetheart, how was your day?" which seemed to started her.
"Oh uh, i- it was good. I got an "A" on my math test," she said casually.
"That's great! Anything exciting happen today at school?" Diane asked
"Um no, not really," Kaitlyn said as she thought back to the incident in the cafeteria.
"Uh, I'm not really hungry tonight, so I'm just going to skip dinner, if that's ok with you?" She asked shyly.
"Oh, alright. That's ok." Diane said wholeheartedly.

Kaitlyn walked to her room and closed the door behind her. She threw her bag on the ground and paced back and fourth around her room, trying to calm herself down as she tried to remember exactly what happened. She had a hard time remembering because in that moment all she could feel was her heart about to beat out of her chest with overwhelming anxiety. But then, she remembered the flash that came to her rescue just before Ryan was about to pummel her. "That flash! Whatever it was saved me!" She realized. Kaitlyn knew it was no ordinary beam of light because the sun was already at high noon, facing away from the windows of the cafeteria. "If it wasn't the sun, then what was it?"

By this time it was dark outside and she was getting ready for bed. As she starts to dread tomorrow, she pulls up the covers, shivering in the moonlight seeping through her windows. Just then a beam of light shines through her window. A soft glow forces her to look out from under the sheets. She sits there in disbelief.

"Wh- who are you?" She asked

"...I'm Michael."
