"You can sleep here for now until we get the new room set up". "Thanks, I really appreciate all your doing," Kaitlyn said in a soft voice. "Of course," said Diane.
I guess your wondering what she's doing here and why she isn't with her own parents. Let's back up. A couple months ago, her mother and father both died in a fire that had been started by a group of gang members looking for trouble. The only one who made it out alive was Kaitlyn. The next month was very stressful, as she slowly realized that she had lost everything in the fire. All of her memories and photos were gone. Fortunately for her, the neighbors had always been close friends with Kaitlyn's parents, and after many discussions, they decided to take her in as there own. It would be a handful, since they didn't have any kids to begin with, which meant they had no experience raising a teenager.
"We'll do everything we can to make you feel right at home," said George, who was the husband. Fast forward a week later, and Kaitlyn was ready to move in, but something came up. All of a sudden, George got a phone call and he and Diane had to move to Seattle due to work, which meant they would have to find a new house, QUICK. But Kaitlyn knew that this would mean more then a new house. This means she wouldn't get to see her friends and wouldn't get to go to the high school that she was originally supposed to go to. "This can not be happening." She said to herself. What was the universe going to throw at her next.Once they had finally moved in to their new apartment they set up their own bedroom, while Kaitlyn was left with her own room. Keep in mind she didn't have any furniture at the time. So that night she slept on the couch because all she got from that room was a hollow empty feeling in the pit of her stomach. When the school year had finally come around, Diane had bought some new outfits for Kaitlyn's first day of high school. She was cheering up and soon couldn't wait to make new friends.
What they didn't know about this new school, was that it was notorious for having bullies. This school was like gang central. The worst part about it is that the teachers did not care what happened to their students. You would only have to peer into the gates to see that in this school you were either a bully or fresh meat.
