Ashley Moore is many things. Someone who understands the appeal of Dungeons and Dragons not being one of them. She didn't understand why anyone would want to sit for 10 plus hours talking about trolls and magic and shit. The only reason she was in the Wheelers basement that night was because her only friends were there. Michael Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, and William Byers. Having fidgeted the entire time and taken several cat naps Ashley was gonna lose her mind if the campaign didn’t end soon.

Ashley forced herself to pay attention as Mike spoke up with a cryptic tone. "Something is coming… something hungry for blood."

Rolling her eyes Ashley sat up “If they're really that hungry they can have pie. At least then someone would appreciate it. Really there's no need for bloodshed. Fresh pie just waiting to be enjoyed.” She flung her hand to the side gesturing towards the barely touched peach pie on the coffee table.

Receiving a sharp glare from Mike she raised her hands in surrender, muttering "no need for the dramatics."

"A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness...it is almost here" Mike continues causing the rest of the room to tense up. All but Ashley who had left the table to eat some of the pie she had worked so hard on.

Spacing out Ashley relished in the taste of the peach goodness. It wasn't very often she saved up enough money to bake anything. If it was up to her, guilt and money aside, she would spend all her days in the Wheelers kitchen making pies, brownies, blondies, Holly's favorite sugar cookies, and Will's favorite chocolate chip cookies that were a tad undercooked so they were soft.

Ashley's head snapped up at a word that striked her interest. Fireball.

"Too risky. Cast protection."

Ashley stood next to Dustin and looked at Will "I say fireball him."

Dustin sharply turns to look at her, playfully glaring. "You don't even understand half the shit we're saying!"

"Well, yeah..sure. But I do know that fireballs sound pretty sick!"

"It's too risky!"

Mike slams on the table making Ashley jump. "The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering! It stomps towards you. Boom!"

The bickering continues while Ashley slumps back in her chair mumbling about how ridiculous it was for Mike to call her "silly" as she was likely the most mature of the group. Then again that wasn't saying much.

Will finally rolls the dice deciding on fireball. The boys get up quickly searching for the dice that flew off the table while Ashley continues to sit there unbothered humming ABBA.

Hearing a new voice Ashley looks up seeing Karen in the doorway. "Oh thank God! I thought this thing was gonna last forever Mrs.Wheeler! Please save me!"

Reaching the top of the stairs Ashley sees Ted sitting in his La-Z-Boy with a plate of pie resting on his stomach. She smiles walking over saying "At least someone's enjoying it."

Without looking away from the TV Ted responds nonchalantly. "You do make the best sweets. Definitely my favorite kid."

Laughing Ashley starts walking back to the kitchen. "I'm not your kid Mr.Wheeler."

"Might as well be."

Passing Mike she stops, grabbing him by the shoulder. "Give it up, Frogface. You know she doesn't let this stuff pass on a school night. Besides, 10 hours is enough. Let's go."

In the garage she watched as everyone got ready to leave. Doing a double take Ashley wondered where Dustin was. Usually at the end of a campaign he would compliment her baked goods and ask if she was going to go home that night.

"There's something wrong with your sister."

Hearing the familiar voice Ashley perked up going over to hug the boy. The conversation continued while Dustin let her hug him while he walked to his bike. Ashley wasn't paying much attention but spoke up when Nancy's date was mentioned.

"Steve is not a douchebag! At least...not a complete douchebag."

"Right, sorry Ash." Lucas sounded sympathetic. Ashley didn't like that. It made her feel weak. She brushed it off finally letting go of Dustin and completely tuning out the sound of her friends.

Noticing her friends riding off she walked a few steps forward "Bye! Be safe! See you tomorrow asshats!"

Ashley stared at the ceiling, her mind running 100 miles per hour. As usual she spent the night tossing and turning. Ashley didn't usually stay at the Wheeler's, but recently she had a bit of a spat with who she usually stayed with. Over the years she'd grown somewhat close with the family, especially Holly, the youngest.

The guest bed was rock hard in contrast to the feather filled pillow. As hours passed, Ashley Moore let the constant buzz of her mind lure her to sleep.
