So heres what happened to the characters after the story end....
Emily does not end up with Cameron but a few years later they see each other at a resteraunt and he apologizes for just leaving her. Since dating Cameron brought her a decent amount of fame, she is able to persue her dream of becoming an actress. Through acting she meets her future husband and they have twin daughters.
Alex and Shawn get married and travel between NY and Canada with their 2 kids.
