AUGUSTUS' POV
________________
It was around noon. I was standing on a podium outside of the main keep, preparing to make the announcement in front of the crowd of people whom had been interrupted by my messengers and hurried to hear what I had to say. I thought for a second about not making this ridiculous change to the taxes but when I glanced over at my wife and son in the crowd, I knew I had to do it. I held my hand up to silence the humans and elves who were growing impatient. As they quieted down I said "I have made a decision. None of you are going to be happy with it but I have my reasons for doing this. As of today, weekly taxes have been tripled." That last sentence was followed by yells of outrage from the crowd. After a minute or two of continuous comotion, I noticed a man was trying to make his way to the podium. The guards wouldn't let him through. I recognized him as the man from earlier who was wearing the red crown, except he wasn't wearing the crown at the moment. Knowing that he had the power to kill my family, I motioned for the guards to let the man through. He stepped onto the podium with me and whispered to me; "Get off." I quickly stepped down from the podium. The man then took his crown from out of his bag and placed it on his head. Everyone went quiet out of curiosity of what was about to happen next. "Not too long ago, I heard a rumour that the council was planning to do this. I decided to spy on this mornings meeting to see if the rumours were true. It turns out that only Augustus and three other council members wanted to do this. When the others disagreed, they were brutally slaughtered by Augustus and the others." He said. One of the three council members who were standing behind the podium near the keeps entrance stepped forward. "That's a lie! The meeting was about a dangerous killer on the loose! The man in the red crown is the killer!" Said the council member.
"No! You are the liar!" Said the man in the crown.
Suddenly all three council members and I, flew up into the air. We went so high that we couldn't see the ground. After a few moments of hopelesness, we dropped.
