ROLIN'S POV

_______________________

It was about midnight.  I had a rope folded in my hands and I was in the forest where no one could see me.  I was going to hang myself.  What was the point of living if my life had already on ended the day I was born. With tears in my eyes, I walked over to the tallest tree in sight. It was next to a river that flowed towards my family's old farm. I let out a sob as the bad memories invaded my mind. I began to climb the tree. I was almost at the top where I was going to tie the rope but a branch snapped. I fell and hit my head on another branch on the way down. Everything went fuzzy and faded to black as I landed in the river. I awoke on a river bank, deeper in the forest. I was soaking wet and covered in mud. As I sat up, I began to cough violently. Water spewed out from my lungs and into my mouth. The mud and gravel in the water made the worst taste ever. I spat it out as quick as I could. I sat there for a few minutes, taking in what had just happened. When I stood up I realized that my rope was missing. I looked around for another way to kill myself. I tried to be quick about it so that I could get it over with.  I spotted a large rock a few feet away. My plan was to lift it up, position my head under it and let it crush my skull.  I went over and lifted it but I was distracted from my procedure when I saw a shiny red metallic object sticking out of the dirt. I pushed the rock aside and dug up this strange artifact to reveal that it was a red crown. I had no idea what it was made of. It was too light to be ruby, but too heavy to be any other red metal. Out of curiosity I put it on my head to see if it fit. As soon as I did, something truely amazing happened.
