It was mid-afternoon and you pedaled all across town to go to the woods. The Chief called you to go to his cabin because he said that he needed you for something important. That's all he said and he hung up and you hurried out of your house. With your backpack on your back, the leaves on the ground crumbled as your tires crushed through them. You leaned the bike against the tree and stepped over the trap line to get to his cabin.
You knocked on the door twice and he let you in.
"What happened, why'd you call?" you asked him worried.
You looked around his place but you didn't see any trouble. Eleven was standing beside him and she looked like she couldn't contain her smile any longer. You looked at them confused.
"What's going on?" you asked them.
"I know you said you didn't want to go, but Eleven wanted a friend to go with her to the Snowball" the Chief said.
You raised your eyebrows at him and you looked at El. She looked like she couldn't even contain her happiness. You understood why she wanted to go, she had been stuck in this house for a year and she never got to feel like a normal kid. But you were super happy that she wanted to go with you and you decided to do this one thing for her.
"I don't have an outfit" you said smiling.
The Chief went over to the couch and picked up some clothes that were in a plastic bag. When you saw the outfit, the biggest smile appeared on your face.
"I know you don't like wearing dresses" he said smiling.
You got super giddy inside looking at the outfit. You were super grateful that they thought of you this way, you were so thankful that you had them in your life.
You and El went to her room and closed the door, smiling too much. She showed you her dress and you loved it. It was a blue dress with a hot pink ribbon at the waist. You couldn't believe the Chief got her it, it was really pretty. He also got her makeup which was surprising.
"Guess whatttt" you told her.
You reached in your backpack and pulled out all the candies from Halloween and all the chocolate from the store. Her eyes widened and she immediately dug in. You knew she didn't have a great Halloween so you thought to bring her Halloween.
You both ate the candies and you showed her each one, with every bite she took she was satisfied and was loving the sugar more and more. You gave her two bags so she can hide it in her room and eat later in the night. She put on some music on her record player super loudly and you both danced crazy like in her room.
"Keep it down!" the Chief had to shout at you guys but you both just laughed super hard.
You loved being with El. This is what it felt to have a sister and you were all in for it. You really did miss her and you never wanted to let her go.
An hour before the dance, you two got ready. You did her makeup first. You put pink eyeshadow on her eyes and blush on her cheeks and lip gloss, with a bit of mascara. But not too much because she didn't need a whole lot of makeup, she was pretty already. You didn't wear any cuz you hated it. (mood) You also did her hair and she looked great.
Your cheek got a bit better. The scratch closed and the reddening and bruise around it wasn't as swollen as before, but it still hurt. The Chief wanted to beat the hell out of Billy when he found out that he even touched you, but you told him to not press charges because you didn't want any more problems for Max and her family.
You and Eleven both put on your outfits together. When you stood in front of the mirror, your smile just lit up. The Chief had gotten you black suit pants and a colorful suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows that you just put over your black graphic shirt.

You had on your black hightop converse and you thought you looked great. You were not about to where any stupid heels to a dance.
You put an arm over El's shoulder and you both smiled looking at the mirror.
"Pretty" you said.
"Pretty" she said back.
You both got in the Chief's car and he drove you both to the school. When you got to the school, you hugged the Chief and thanked him for everything.
When you both got out of the car, you extended your arm out to El and she linked hers with yours. You both smiled and you went inside the school.
You weren't even expecting much from the school but when you walked into the gym, it was totally transformed. There were blue lights everywhere with grey streamers and a big sign that said 'Snowball'. It looked really well decorated.
You looked around and saw that a bunch of people were dancing with their partner to 'Every Breath You Take'. You saw Will was dancing with a girl and Lucas was dancing with Max, it warmed your heart seeing them together. El was looking for Mike. You saw him sitting lonely at one of the tables and you pointed him out for El. You smiled as you watched them go dance together.
You looked around and you saw Dustin sitting on the benches alone, crying. He didn't have anyone to dance with. You walked up to him.
"Oh, hey Y/N" he said wiping his tears away and sniffling.
You reached your hand out to him and winked, "Let's go break some souls"
Dustin looked from your hand to you and smiled. He put his hand in yours and you led him to the dance floor. Once you got in the crowd of dancing couples, you turned to Dustin and smiled. You grabbed his hands and placed them on your waist and you brought yours to the back of his neck. He looked nervous but you smiled.
"Breathe Dustin" you reassured him.
He gave a nervous laugh and you both started to move. As you danced, you looked at his hair. It looked super well groomed and just perfect.
"Let me guess ..." you said twirling one of his curls in your fingers, "Steve"
"Only the best", he said laughing. "You really look beautiful Y/N" he said looking into your eyes.
You blushed and smiled at him, "Thank you Dustin Henderson. May I say you look just as handsome" you said with an accent at the end.
"Thank you my Queen" he said with the same accent and a serious face but that broke into a smile.
"Love the teeth" you added. You both purred and rolled your R's together and laughed super hard.
You laughed with him and you both kept dancing. When the music got fun again, you, Dustin, Will, Mike, El, Lucas, and Max all got together and you danced in a group. Jumping, swaying your heads to the music, yelling out the lyrics and just having a blast. You all got together and took pictures, which Jonathan took. You all made silly faces and Mike carried you on his back in the photo. Then you took your "couple" pictures together. Mike and El, Lucas and Max, Will and that girl all held each other all cute but you and Dustin held onto each other all sarcastically and made funny faces to each other. At the end, you all went to Mike's place and hung out in the basement, eating junk food and playing games, all laughing. It really turned out to be a great night. You couldn't have asked for anything better.
