Begrudgingly, I'm woken up by the sound of my alarm. After a shower, I get dressed, pulling on a pink button down, and a short black pencil skirt that shows off the thigh tattoo. I complete the look with matte black heels. While on my way to Lovey's bedroom I spray myself with coconut body mist turning the knob entering her room.
Getting a half-asleep Lovey up and dressed is no small feat. Her sleepy eyes barely open as I coax her out of bed, I pick her up getting her to the bathroom. After getting her dry and moisturized I help her into her new, and very expensive uniform, handling each piece with care. Her uniform consisted of a white button-up, showing the white collar, and a red crimson vest on the outside, with a gray pleated skirt and glossy black flats, that I silently hoping she doesn't scuff.
I style her hair in a half-up, half-down look, weaving two small braids into the back and securing them with tiny red bows that match her uniform perfectly. Before we get into my old Volvo, I kneel down to Lovey's level and say to her...
I kneel down to Lovey's level and gently ask, "My love, you're going to a new school. How do you feel?" The little look on her tiny face tells me all I need to know, but I still ask her anyway.
"Mommy, I'm scared. What if nobody likes me?" Lovey says, her head bowed, fingers fiddling nervously.
"That's absolutely impossible," I say, lifting one eyebrow with a smirk. "How can anyone not love the most amazing little girl in the world? Well, unless you try to play poker with them and win." I see a smile start to spread across her face. Ever since my brother taught Lovey how to play poker, she's been dominating everyone—it's kind of scary. Not long after I said that, Lovey starts to giggle.
"Okay, okay, I won't do it again. I'm sorry."
"Good," I reply with a grin.

After bringing Lovey to her new school—despite my insistence that my brother not pay the tuition, which he did anyway—I make my way back to the car, dialing his number. As soon as he picks up, I can't help but yell at him over the phone.
"You really shouldn't have paid for Lovey's school, David!" I exclaim, frustration evident in my voice. "I told you I had it covered."
"I know, but I wanted to help," he replies calmly, clearly unfazed by my outburst. I let out a sigh.
"I told you I wanted to do this on my own, I was good for the money anyway." I said sitting back in my car seat looking up at my tall office building.
"I know, this is the last time, I swear."
"Ok," I said reluctantly. " love you."
"Love you too." I hang up, feeling a mix of gratitude and annoyance. I look at the time then start driving to the coffee shop Mari told me to go to to get Mr. Collins' coffee.
