"Shiro, this really isn't necessary. Can we just go home?" Keith protested.
"No, I want to make sure it's nothing serious." Shiro said, grabbing Keiths wrist and dragging him into the the building.
Shiro had insisted to go to the doctor to make sure Keiths symptoms weren't actually anything serious. Keith knew it wasn't. Just because his cold hadn't gone away (which was probably just allergies anyway) doesn't mean he had a deadly disease.
But when Shiro wants something he usually gets it, and after a lot of protesting Shiro still managed to get him an appointment.
Keith groaned upon entering the building. It had that smell. The horrible hospital, doctor office smell. He scrunched his nose in disgust.
Shiro walked up to the receptionist and offered a polite smile which she kindly returned.
"Good morning, how may I help you?" She asked, her attention fully on Shiro.
Keith stood behind him like a lost puppy, grumbling something under his breath and shuffling his foot around awkwardly.
"We have an appointment under the name Kogane." Shiro said.
The women types something on her computer and then looked up with a smile, "Oh yes, you can take a seat right back there," she gestured towards the small waiting room, "we'll call your name when the doctor is ready." she smiled and turned back towards the computer.
"Ok, thank you." Shiro smiled and turned towards Keith, who still was sulking, "come on." he sighed walking into the waiting area, Keith trailing behind.
Shiro took a seat causing Keith to sit as far away from his as possible.
"You act like a toddler," Shiro huffed, leaning back into his chair.
Keith ignored him, choosing to sulk around instead.
Several minutes passed, in which Keith let his mind wander.
"Keith Kogane!" A female voice suddenly called out, causing him to jump slightly. He scrambled out of his seat, shooting a glare at an amused Shiro.
Keith forced himself to walk up towards the women who smiled at him, "Right in here, sir." she said, using her hand to gesture towards the doorway leading into a doctors office.
Keith walked in awkwardly, glancing around the room to seem more relaxed.
"You can take a seat right there," she said, pointing towards the exam table.
"Ok," he said simply and took a seat awkwardly.
"Doctor McClain will be with you in a moment." she smiled and shut the door lightly.
As soon as the door fell shut Keith groaned quietly, his eyes roaming the room warily.
stupid shiro making me go to the stupid doctor for a stupid cold.
He sniffled, and was about to wipe his nose exactly when the door started to open, causing him to sit up straight and try to appear relaxed.
But nothing could have prepared him for what he was about to see. The door opened and in walked a fucking saint.
Keith could feel the heat rise to his cheeks and his heart start to beat quicker.
"Good morning," The young man with olive skin said, his back towards Keith, "I'm Doctor McClain," he said turning towards Keith and extending his hand politely, "but you can call me Lance."
Keith eyed his hand, "I- I'm the uh- I'm the Keith." he said, not wanting to grab Lance's hand because his own were so clammy.
"The Keith?" The doctor questioned with a raised eyebrow, retracting his hand after realizing Keith wasn't going to take it.
Keith watched him sit down in the the small roll stool.
"Well 'The Keith', what can I do for you today?" he asked, moving forward a bit and smirking slightly.
Keith didn't let himself make eye contact, instead he kept his eyes focused on Lance's feet and then legs and then stomach and abs and biceps and-
"The Keith?"
Keith jumped slightly, his eyes accidentally snapping up to Lances which caused him to blush even more.
Lance smirked.
"Oh- uh- I have a cold- although I think it's just allergies... well the point is it hasn't gone away in over a week and- yeah..." he trailed off awkwardly, suddenly finding the sink extremely interesting.
"Hmm," Lance hummed in thought, his brows slightly furrowed. Keith couldn't help but think he looked awfully cute.
"Well let's check your lungs first." The doctor said, offering a small smile and then rolling back in his chair to grab a stethoscope.
Keith watched him put the ends on his ears and then roll back to Keith. He seemed to be a bit closer than before but Keith ignored it, instead trying to calm down his breathing and heart rate.
"Would you please lift you shirt slightly?" Lance asked, causing Keith to blush and mumble a small 'yeah' before doing so.
Lance placed the chest piece of Keiths chest, causing Keith to jump at the sudden feeling. It was cold.
Lance furrowed his brows and closed his eyes. A small smirk appeared on his face. Keith wondered why.
"Will you take a few deep breathes for me?" Lance asked, moving the chest piece around a bit.
"Mhm." Keith hummed, not trusting himself to talk.
Keith breathed in deeply and then back out. His heart rate still as quick as when Lance first walked in- maybe a bit quicker considering how close he was sitting.
Suddenly Lance pulled back, placing the stethoscope back where it had been moments ago.
"Nothing seems abnormal," He smiled, "you're heart beat is a bit quicker than usual," he smirked, "but I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about."
Keith looked away, not being able to maintain eye contact with the young doctor.
"You were right, it is just allergies. If you want I can give you some medication for it," Lance rolled over to the counter and started to write something, "just give this to the receptionist, she will know what to do." he said, handing Keith a sheet of paper.
"O-ok." Keith said, holding the paper by his side awkwardly, without looking at it.
"You're free to go." Lance stood up, offering his hand out to Keith.
Keith took it automatically this time, only regretting it afterwards considering the clamminess in his hands definitely hadn't gone away. He couldn't ignore the strange shock that went through his body at the touch though.
"Well, goodbye Kogane, I hope to see you around soon." Lance smiled, before leaving the room.
Keith stood there awkwardly in the empty room for a few seconds before glancing down at the sheet of paper in his hands, and when he did he couldn't help but crack a smile.
On the top left corner written in black ink he read.

Keith immediately saved the number on his phone before leaving the doctors office. Refusing to tell Shiro why he was suddenly in such a good mood.
