I slept in which wasn't the best of things to do. Especially when I and Sarah were going to a great tourist location of the day.
'Ryan!' yelled a voice from downstairs, 'Get a move on!'
I let out a frustrated moan, 'I'm trying!'
It was an utter nightmare, running around and trying to find some clean clothing. After some quick thinking, I decided to wear a checked shirt, blue jeans and some trainers. It was a casual outfit which somehow felt right.
'Ryan! NOW!' yelled the same voice.
I growled angrily as loud footsteps came close to my bedroom door. The door flung open with a bang and mum was stood there.
'Ryan for Pete's sake!' said mum.
'Seriously, my alarm didn't go off!' I lied.
'Ry, please get a move on. Sarah is downstairs waiting for you and has been for the last twenty five minutes!' argued mum.
'She could have come up.' I suggested.
'Well, you could have been sleeping naked my boy. And that wouldn't be a good thing.' added mum.
'Well for your information, I wasn't sleeping naked and I don't care about my appearance one bit.' I added.
I then spotted Sarah standing by my bedroom door, her arms folded across her chest.
'Ryan. I'm sorry. I should have been your alarm clock.' she said.
I walked over to her, arms outstretched, 'Don't blame yourself Sarah OK?'
She looked at me with passion and love. I pull her in close for a hug. Mum awkwardly coughs.
I quickly turn around, 'Sorry mum. Just greeting my girlfriend.'
'And about time too!' she huffs.
Mums eh? Don't get me wrong. I do love my mum but sometimes, she can be so annoying and say things without thinking them through first.
After a quick tidy around, all of us jump into the family car. The adults at the front while I and Sarah are in the back.
'Seatbelts on!' reminds Mum.
'K!' we both reply gigging.
'Ryan, I'm excited about this,' says Sarah, 'I mean, the pier, the sea, fish and chips!'
I laugh, 'Do you not go to the seaside often then?'
She turns a little pale, 'No, not often.'
I see her change in just that second, 'Sarah, are you...?'
In just a few seconds, Sarah's body lurches over and tips towards the floor. Her skin is now white and her arms covered in sweat.
'Mum! Stop the car!' I yell.
The car falls to a grinding halt beside a layby on the road. My dad rushes out from the passenger seat and races to open the door from the back.
In horror, I watch my girlfriend slump down. Half of her body is touching the gravel on the ground by the car door whist the other half was hanging up in the air. Her eyes were knitted shut, she was motionless.
I watched mum scrambling around in her handbag. 'Quick! Call an ambulance.'
My dad is stood there trying to feel her pulse. With a pounding heart, I lean over her body and press my head against her chest to try and feel a heartbeat.
'She can't be!' yells mum.
'No mum, she isn't,' I reply, 'There is something there, I can hear it.'
