Iris POV
Welcome to Seoul, S. Korea!
That's the sign that first caught her eye as they entered the airport terminal.
"Keep your head down and don't make eye contact with anyone. There might be paparazzi here that could recognize us." Namjoon instructs, making her roll her eyes.
Who does he think he is, the president or something?
They make their way through the airport, going through customs and security. After that incredibly long flight, Iris just wants to take a nap. But she has a feeling that's not going to happen anytime soon.
They finally step into the outside air, making Iris let out a sigh of relief. Namjoon wanted to travel at night since apparently there is less of a chance of them being spotted, so it's currently pitch black outside. But she's just glad to get some fresh air.
"This way." Says Namjoon, rolling his luggage down the sidewalk. Iris follows him wordlessly and they approach a black SUV that appears to be waiting for them.
They put their suitcases in the trunk and then climb in. "This is Sejin, my manager."
The man turns around in the driver's seat, saying something to Namjoon in Korean. Then he turns to Iris. "It's nice to meet you, welcome to Korea." He says in English.
"Thank you." Iris mumbles quietly.
She hasn't been here for long, but she already feels out of place. It's hard not to, she's in a country that she's never been to before and knows nothing about.
As Sejin pulls off, she lets out a sigh, looking out the window. At least the view is pretty. Seoul seems like a fairly busy city, it reminds her of New York. But still, it's going to take her some time to get used to this.
After a few minutes, they drive up a secluded road that leads to a large mansion. So Namjoon wasn't kidding, they are pretty rich.
Sejin pulls up to the booth by the gate, speaking to the security guard for a few moments. Then the gate opens and he drives through.
Sejin parks and then ushers them out of the car. They walk up to the front door, which he unlocks with his keys.
"Welcome home!" A chorus of loud voices ring out when the door opens.
Iris is surprised to see that there are six men standing at the entrance, who she quickly recognizes as the other members of BTS. There is also a woman there, who she realizes is Skye.
Some of them immediately begin to approach her and Namjoon but Jin quickly holds up his hand. "Ah, ah, no hugs." He reprimands. "Go upstairs and take shower first."
All Iris wants to do is sit down and relax but she knows she just came from a germ infested airport so she needs to take the necessary precautions.
Namjoon leads her down the hallway, stopping in front of a room on the left. "This is my room." He says, letting her walk inside first. It's incredibly spacious and very well organized.
His bed is set up in the corner and he has an almost full bookshelf to the side of it. He also has a desk against the wall with a computer on top and what looks like music equipment next to it.
"There's a bathroom over there, I'll use the one in the hallway." He says. Then he grabs some clothes, leaving the room.
Iris sighs heavily. Her and Namjoon haven't had a normal conversation since their fight a few days ago. She's been so busy with trying to wrap things up before she left that she pushed the situation to the back of her mind. But now she realizes that she misses talking to him. Especially since he's the only person she has now that they're in Korea.
Maybe she should apologize.
She mulls over this situation in her head as she heads to the bathroom, hopping in the shower.
Iris makes sure to scrub her body well in order to get rid of any potential germs she may have on her. Then she gets out, putting on her regular night wear. It's already late anyway.
When she's done, she gets out of the bathroom and makes her way back towards the entrance where she came in. She finds everyone standing around and talking in the kitchen.
"Iris!" Jin smiles when he sees her standing there. He approaches her, putting an arm around her shoulder to usher her in the room. "Come, I made food for you. See?" He gestures towards the counter where there are several Korean dishes sitting. Most of them, Iris has never seen before.
"Go on, try it." He encourages her.
"Kimchi is really good." Jungkook comments, leaning on the counter next to her.
"Bulgogi too, it's delicious." Says Hoseok.
Iris looks at the amazing array of foods in front of her. She's a little intimidated by the unfamiliar dishes, but they do look good. Plus, she's super hungry.
"Which one is bulgogi?" She asks, cringing internally at her horrible pronunciation.
"This one." Yoongi points to a dish of delicious looking beef.
Jin offers her a pair of chopsticks and she winces, shaking her head. "Yeah..I don't know how to use those."
He lets out a laugh. "It's okay, I will teach you later. Here." He opens a drawer, pulling out a fork and handing her that instead.
"Thank you." She nods gratefully at him. Then she digs into the dish, the rest of the boys watching her attentively.
Woah.
"You made this?" She asks, turning to Jin with wide eyes.
The man nods.
"It's very good." Iris compliments him, making his eyes light up.
"Thank you so much!" He gushes.
As everyone begins to dig in to the rest of the dishes, Namjoon enters the kitchen. He has a short conversation in Korean with Hoseok as he comes over to where everyone else is standing.
Iris has never wished she could speak another language more in her life.
If she's going to be living here, she should probably start learning Korean soon. Maybe she'll ask one of the boys to help her.
Everyone converses among themselves as they eat. And when they're done cleaning up, they decide to call it a night. After all, they did arrive fairly late.
Everyone slowly drifts off one by one, each retiring to their rooms. Soon enough, the only people left in the kitchen are Iris and Namjoon.
The silence in the room is almost deafening.
It stays like that for a while until Namjoon clears his throat. "You can sleep in my room, I'll take the couch."
Iris' eyebrows immediately shoot up. "Are you sure?"
It was one thing having him sleep on the couch in her apartment, but kicking him out of his own room seems kind of cruel.
"Yeah, it's fine." He replies, no emotion at all in his voice. And for some reason, that makes Iris feel even worse. Namjoon finishes drying the rest of the dishes and then washes his hands. "I'm gonna get ready for bed. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." She nearly whispers as he brushes past her, exiting the room.
