"Why the hell were you suspended?" my mom asked as I step through the door with Sarah. She had given me a ride home since we got kicked out of school. "Well...basically this guy who's been harassing me for weeks got in my face and I kicked him in his nut sack", I explained. "Oh and He slipped into my taser", Sarah added. We both giggled as my mom glared at us. "Listen sweetheart. I know you don't know how things work around here, since you're the long lost sister and all, but we don't attack people", My mom said crossing her arms. Sarah rolled her eyes. "Connie is it? Yeah I don't think you have any room telling me what I should be doing. You're not my mother, but by all means scold your son", she replied. I nudged her. "Well I don't think I should be scolded", I joked. "Don't have the room? This is MY son. And who he hangs around is my concern, especially if they're getting him into trouble", my mom snapped. "And I'm his sister. So, what can you really do about that?" Sarah asked leaning her arm against me. It was silent as the two women stared at each other. "As I thought," Sarah then said and walked outside to her car. My mom then tugs at my shirt and gently tosses me on the couch. "I don't want you hanging around that little smart mouthed bitch. She's nothing but trouble Mika", my mom said while pointing her finger at me. I winced and stood up to face her. "That bitch you're mentioning is my sister. And I remember there was a time where you were nothing but trouble. Hell, if your sister wasn't so sick like you, I probably wouldn't have had to kill my dad!" I yelled. My mom was speechless as she backed away from me. She has some nerve telling me what's best for me. I pushed past her and headed out the door. Sarah hadn't pulled off yet and was in her car lighting up something in her mouth. I hopped in the passenger seat and grabbed the joint out her mouth. "Hey, you've never even smoked before little boy, give it back", Sarah ordered. I take a big pull and inhale the smoke. Then, I felt my lungs burn and my eyes start tearing up. I started coughing and handed the blunt back to Sarah. She laughed at me and took another pull. "You're mom seems like an asswhole", she said blowing smoke from her nostrils. "Well, your dad is maggot food", I replied now catching my breath. "Ouch," she said and laughed as we pulled off to her apartment.
We arrived at her place which was a nice apartment for a high school senior. It had a lot of space and it definitely looks like it was decorated by an interior decorator. "You live here alone?", I asked as I inspected the place. "Yup. My mom is somewhere in Malibu using up some rich man's wallet. Or was is it Ohio? Anyway she sends me a nice allowance. So does my sugar daddy", Sarah said with a wink. We head into her bedroom and both just plop on the bed. "I feel so high", I said staring at the ceiling moving. This is nothing new to me. Sarah stayed quiet and stared at the ceiling too. My body felt weightless and I felt so serene. Nothing mattered in those moments. Then, the ceiling started to warp into something else. Ah shit here we go. The ceiling had disappeared and I was now looking at the pitch black sky with stars glittering in the air. I started to giggle as I felt the wind brush over my face. As I stared at the sky, I saw someone floating among the stars. It was someone in a astronaut's suit. I couldn't make out the face, but I saw the person just aimlessly floating to nowhere. I raised my hand to wave at him and he waved back to me. I stared to laugh with joy and confusion. This shit was hitting me hard. I stood on the bed and reached into the sky to try to to grab his hand. He extended his arm back to me, but before we could touch, I felt someone tug my down to the bed. "What're you doing idiot?" Sarah asked giggling. She then rolled off the bed and hit the floor hard. I heard her laughing hysterically under the bed. When I looked back up to the sky, the ceiling had returned.
A couple of hours later, we pull up to Jenifer's driveway. I was trying to convince Sarah to clear the air with her. "Why do I have to talk to her? I don't feel the need to squash whatever beef the girl has with me. Plus you're blowing my high", Sarah pouts. "Well Jenifer is one of my best friends and you're my sister. So, you two have to make up for the sake of me", I explain. Sarah rolls her eyes and steps out the car. Jenifer greets us into her house and gives Sarah a half assed smile. We all sit down in her living room and remain silent for awhile. "Sarah do you have anything to say?" I asked breaking the silence. "No", Sarah sneered and crossed her her arms and legs. "Bitch you're in my house. So I suggest you start first", Jenifer said flipping her hair back. "Look blondie, I have no issue with you. You're not even important enough for me to remember your name", Sarah snapped. Jenifer stood up and began to approach Sarah. I quickly got in between them, but Sarah remained seated on the couch. "The only reason I haven't thrown your ass out, is because of the respect I have for Mika", Jenifer said. "Jenifer sit down, we don't need this to turn into a fight", I said pointing at the other end of the couch. "You two didn't have a problem beating up Dylan. Why are you taking sides here?" Jenifer snapped. What did she just say? "You know the situation with Dylan, so why would you throw that in my face? And I'm the one trying to get you stubborn children to get along, but at the end of the day that's my sister Jen", I snapped back. "Oh bullshit. You just met her. I can even smell weed on you. And since when do you drink? Or fight? That bitch is changing you and trying to turn you against me!" Jenifer began to yell. "Fuck you Jenifer. You want me to go back to being timid and boring. Is that it? So you can feel sorry for me and hang around the sad crazy gay kid? She's done nothing but help me see who really cares about me", I said angrily. Jenifer's mouth was practically on the floor. I motioned for Sarah to follow me out the door as we leave out. If everyone has an issue with Sarah, they have an issue with me.
I met up with Troye later that day at this cafe do have a little date. I filled him in on what happened with my mom and Jenifer. "Baby, is it really the right decision to start burning more bridges?", Troye asked. "You already fought Dylan, now you're at odds with Jen plus your mom, and Nathan attacked you in the bathroom. I love you, but how many people do I have to take on with you?" He adds. "You don't have to burn bridges just because I torched some of my own. I don't expect you to fight everyone I'm at odds with. I can handle myself", I explain while taking a sip of my tea. Troye had a surprised look on his face. "I've never heard you speak like this. Sarah must've had a real impact on you", Troye said and fiddled with my fingers. "Why does everyone think Sarah is making me the way I am? Maybe I'm just tired of being pushed around. She's my sister, the most she's done is help me unwind and have a good time", I explained. Troye nods, but I can see he doesn't agree. Suddenly, Manny stops by our table and plops down beside me. "So you two are on a date? Interesting, seems like everything is well in paradise", he said with a bright smile. "Yea it is. Now get out of our booth", I demanded. "Oh I'm sorry, I just came to fill Troye in on our great time the other night", Manny said while snatching my drink and taking a sip out of it. "What is he talking about?" Troye asked. I could see his fists clenching up. "Oh that night I picked him up from the bowling alley. When I gave him a ride home, he gave me a RIDE too", Manny said with a grin. Troye's face turns to me for clarity but I just shake my head in dismay. He then flips the table out of the booth and storms out of the cafe. Manny and I jump up as the tea spills all over us. I glared at Manny as he gave me a malicious smile. "That's for Dylan", he then said.
