Cop cars and an ambulance surrounded my house as sirens went off in the distance. The paramedics took my dad's corpse out of the living room. I was being questioned by a large officer while my mom was in the kitchen, being questioned by his partner. I kept trying to fight back tears as I answered questions. All I could think about was seeing my dad's lifeless body leaking blood. What the fuck did I do? "So you picked up and frying pan whacked him over the head?", The officer asked while taking notes. "Yes. He was choking my mother against the wall", I explained while digging my nails into my jeans. "Why did he attack you and your mother?" He then asked. "He...was upset about me...having a boyfriend. He didn't approve of...you know", I choked out. "I see", the officer said. He signaled his partner to come talk to him. I went into the kitchen and saw my mom sitting there nodding off. She had a neck brace and a busted lip. I hated seeing her like that. I hugged her and felt myself break down. "It's okay baby. You did the right thing", She whispered in my ear and held me tightly. A couple of minutes later, the officers arrived into the kitchen. "Based on the evidence, we're ruling this incident as self defense. We brought up Jacob Hanson (Mika's father) into the database and saw he has a history of domestic violence and alcoholism. We've also been informed by your mother young man, that we was abusive towards her in the past", the officer explains. With that, he pats me on the shoulder and exits with his partner. Soon after, I no longer hear sirens and everything goes quiet. My mom and I both walk into the living room and stare at the bloodstain in the carpet. "I'll clean it up. Go lay down", my mom orders me. "No I'll do it", I rebelled. "Mika don't be fucking difficult. Go upstairs and stop being so stubborn", she said impatiently. "You have a damn neck brace, you don't need to be cleaning anything. Now let me do this!" I yelled. My mom sighed and took my hand. "We don't need to attack each other right now, Mika", my mom said sorrowfully. I snatch my hand away. "Just go up stairs mom", I said while staring at the blood.
I started to scrub the carpet vigorously with a sponge. The sponge soaked up most of the blood and filled my hands with it. An hour had passed since I started cleaning the crime scene. I tried to keep my mind occupied, but I couldn't think of anything else. Voices in my head started yelling things at me. "It's all your fault. You're a murderer. You let this happen. You couldn't protect your mom", the voices whispered. I sobbed and threw the sponge at the wall. Why do I feel guilty? He was horrible. He would've killed us both. Suddenly, a pool of blood started to pour upwards and leave the carpet. I stood up and backed away. The blood particles spun and started to form into a body! I could see the hands, feet, legs, arms, torso, and head. It manifested into my dad! The blood demon stared at me maliciously and extended it's hand towards me. "Join me, son. In hell", It spoke. I sunk into the corner and covered my eyes. "It's not real. None of it is real. I'm real. I'm real!" I sobbed. I felt a hand move my arm away. It was Motiv covered in blood. "We are very much real", he said to me. I screamed and crawled into the kitchen. In front of me I could see Lunais standing also covered in blood. "You can't escape this Mika!" she howled. I curled up in a ball and wept. They were right. I couldn't get away from this. No matter how hard I tried. Then, I felt someone tug my arm. I started flailing and screamed for them to get off me. It was my mom and my demons had disappeared. She held me while I cried on the floor. "It's okay baby I've got you", she said and began to cry with me.
My mom called Troye to come over and he drove to my house immediately. She had filled him in on everything. I was lying in my bed still crying when I heard Troye run upstairs. When he opened the door and saw me, he didn't t utter a word. He just laid down and held me tightly in his arms. I fell asleep for awhile and dreamt I was sitting on the moon. I was alone at first, but I saw Mika 2.0 sit beside me. He leaned his head on my shoulder as we both stared at earth. "I can't keep running here every time something goes wrong", I told him/myself. "I was wondering when you were going to figure that out", Mika 2.0 answered. He then lifts his head up and looks at me with a smile. "So what're you going to do?" He/myself then asked. "I'm going to face everything head on. I need to stop complaining about my life and take charge of it", I answered confidently. Mika 2.0 nodded in approval and tapped my forehead. I immediately woke up. I turned over to see Troye sleeping peacefully. His blonde hair fell over his face and his breathing was so steady and cute. I laid down beside him again as he curled his head onto my chest. I'm glad I chose you.
Troye ended up staying the night and making me breakfast in the morning. Simple eggs with pancakes and bacon. "Aww you didn't have to", I said while walking into the kitchen. He shrugged which made his muscles flex in his white beater. "It's the least I can do. Hopefully your mom likes my cooking", Troye said with a bright smile. I walked up to him and I gave him a big kiss. I wrap my hands around his neck and he lifts me up by my thighs. "Not near the food you goddamn animals", my mom snaps while walking into the kitchen. We both laugh and Troye swiftly drops me. "Good morning miss Connie", Troye said handing her a plate. "Ah thank you. God, my neck is killing me", my mom complained. "Sit. I'll get you your pain medicine", I ordered and headed into the living room. Before I could find it, I heard a knock at the door. I went to answer it and a man with an expensive suit was standing there. "Can I help you?" I asked. "I'm here on the behalf of the Jacob Hanson estate. I'm here to discuss his will with his son", he said.
My mom, Troye, and I sat in the living room with the lawyer hearing about my dad's will. "Your father wanted all of his assets and property granted to you Mika. He had good life insurance and was a successful stock broker", the lawyer explained. "I gave that man all of me and he still doesn't put in his dying wishes", my mom groaned. "You did try to set him on fire. Can't say I blame you though", I responded. Troye and the lawyer both gave each other concerned looks and shook their heads. "How much money are we talking about here?", I asked. "If my calculations are correct, you'd be getting $40,000", he responded.
