This chapter will be short, I'm sorry but you won't mind just watch.
Me and Skip walked some more, eventually our legs grew tired so we decided to sit down in the cold sand. We talked about our childhood growing up. He told me about the pranks he pulled on his dad and I told him my mother taught me to hunt. We were so distracted by our conversation that we didn't realize the sun was beginning to rise until the light glow illuminated the beach.
"It's morning already" I said "I swear we were only talking for an hour at most"
"Yeah" he agreed "I guess we just lost track of time"
I nodded my head in agreement instead of answering him, silence washed over us like water in the beaches shore, he reached over into my lap and grabbed my hand, holding it in his.
"You know" he said, facing me "I just met you yesterday and it feels like I already know you"
"I feel the same way" I said, ignoring the butterfly's erupting in my stomach at the feeling of his thumb rubbing up and down the side of my hand.
"Emma" he said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
He didn't say anything, but by the way he began slowly leaning in i could tell what he wanted to do. My cheeks reddened and the closer he got the harder I closed my eyes, preparing myself for my first kiss.
"SKIP! EMMA!" James screamed our names from far down the beach, interrupting our little moment and i exhaled a sigh of relief and irritation. Skip looked away and I followed his actions. He stood up and offered me his hand, which I took.
James came interest view, running towards us from where we came from.
"Jesus Christ you guys have been gone for hours" James said, bending over to catch his breath.
"We didn't think anyone would miss us" Skip said.
"Yeah well you had all of us worried" James said, irritated.
"Sorry, next time I'll check in, dad" Skip said.
"Whatever" James huffed as he turned and walked away angrily. We followed him back to the bonfire where everybody looked ready to pass out.
"We should all get home" Mary said "it's getting cold and I'm tired"
We all agreed and grabbed our belongings silently, skip grabbed the now empty coolers and packed it into the back of my truck. We said goodbye to everybody, and I exchanged my number with Jessica an the rest of the girls, promising them I'd spend a day shopping soon.
James hopped in the drivers seat, with me in the middle and skip on the end, I could feel the tension in the air between the two and I was caught in the middle of an overbearing testosterone sandwich.
The car ride was silent other than the low volume playing over the radio, all i wanted to do was sleep but I decided against it until we got back to the house. Nobody said anything the whole car ride home, and when we pulled up into the familiar driveway we all hopped out excitedly ready for sleep.
The sky had gotten a little brighter, it had to be five or six in the morning. Skip helped James carry in the coolers, and when he gave me a hug goodbye he slipped me a small piece of paper with his number on it. I smiled and waved goodbye as he got in his car and pulled away, then I went upstairs into my room and collapsed in a pile of exhaustion onto my bed.
