Chapters are probably going to be short from here BC I'm lazy & if they're long I'd never update.
It was only a few hours later that I woke up to the annoying sound of my phones alarm clock. I set an alarm so I didn't sleep all day and mess up my routine, so I got up and decided to get clean.
I jumped in the shower and let the hot water run over me. I couldn't help but to think back to just a few hours ago when me and skip sat and talked on the beach.
He was going to kiss me. Wasn't he? He seemed like it, he was leaning in but I had my eyes closed. James interrupted us before it could happen, and i felt a little bit sad about it, but at the same time I'm relieved he interrupted us when he did. A knock on the bathroom door interrupted my thoughts.
"Who is it?" I called.
"James" he said
"What do you need"
"Nothing, but they're back, they want us to go to dinner tonight" he said. I knew immediately that he was referring to our parents.
I washed the shampoo out of my hair and exited the shower, combing through the damp strands that would turn into uncontrollable curls in a matter of hours. I dressed in a pair of shorts and white t shirt and made my way down the stairs into the kitchen.
Our parents stood there, dressed elegant as ever but exhaustion clearly present on their faces. My father was snacking on the cookies I had brought home previously and Mary was scolding him for 'cheating on his diet'.
"How was your trip?" I asked politely, making small conversation to avoid awkward silences.
"It was mostly work" Mary said "but a lovely place, nonetheless".
"Where did you go?" I asked.
"We went to Hawaii" Mary said.
"Hawaii sounds beautiful" I said.
"It was dear, as a matter of fact I'm thinking of going back there soon, we could all go there, as a family" she smiled at me and I returned the favor. My mind traveled to Hawaii, to thoughts of the ocean and the warm nights, and I felt myself fill up with wanting and excitement.
