The Story Beneath The Shirt

New School Already

Friday came a lot sooner than i had expected. Nathan woke me up at 10 and told me to start getting ready. I went for a quick shower and slid on my binder, a white long sleve shirt, a sleeping with sirens shirt, black ripped and rugged skinny jeans, my black songs and my new asking alexandria shoes. The shoes were by far my favorite pair. They were red and black and had the team members names down the side and their symbol on the toe of the shoe.

I blow dried and fixed my hair, my eye looked good as new but i still pulled it in front of my face. I took my new band bracelets and slid 6 on each arm; i had more but i figured 12 was enough. I walked down stairs asking the chef for some Fruity Pebbles cereal and a glass of chocolate milk. I walked over to the window, still no couch. I figured it'll come later today. As i sat down and the chef handed me my food nathan came in. he was still in his robe.

"Good morning nice outfit. Im sure the principal will be very pleased." I said with a mouthful of cereal.

"Hush up and don't eat with your mouth full. I was checking to see if you were ready we gotta leave in 30 minutes, i'm about to go change." He states ruffling my hair."

I smacked his hand, "Hey watch it! I just got it how i wanted it." I fixed my hair back to how i had it. He grabbed a glass of orange juice taking a sip and then heading to his room. He returned five minutes later wearing a simple t shirt with some weird symbol on the rest chest area and a pair of blue jeans. It was a nice change since recently he's been in some work meetings, so all i ever see him in is a suit and tie. He grabbed a honey bun and toast and ate it quickly then walked me out to the garage. My car had been returned, but we got into his and drove off to my new prison known as... School.

I got out looking at the building, it was tall ill give it that but it didn't look all that cool. It had a big circular wall area and then the rest was more of a rectangular shape. Nathan had explained on the way here that the circular area was the choir/band room and that it was amazing. He said they had stairs with chairs so that everyone was in a circle so the sound boomed off the walls, it sounded cool but i'm not much of a singer, or band kid. We walked up and pressed the buzzer. A few seconds later a buzz sounded and the doors unlocked. Nathan opened the door and we turned left into the office.

"Hi, i'm Nathan and this is Max; we have a meeting with the principal about signing him up. We are about 10 minutes early but i didn't know if she wanted us here exactly at 12." Nathan states fixing the bottom of his shirt.

The women checks her computer, "Alrighty i see you guys on here, ill confirm you guys have checked in. If you would like you can take a seat over in those chairs and she'll be out to get you whenever she's ready." She smiles at us pointing to some chairs that seemed really cool. Some where almost like mini couches, they had 2 patted seat but a wooden back and wooden arms. I sat on one of the seats and nathan sat beside me. We waited for almost 5 minutes before a women came out of the hallway area.

"Mr. Houffer??" She stated looking towards us.

"That would be us." Nathan states standing up shaking her hand.
"Alright right this way to my office," She smiles leading us to the end of the hall into her office. "Make yourself comfortable and if you want their is a water stand and cookies over to your right."

She gets on her computer typing and clicking.

"Alright it shows that braylynn, or better known as the nickname Max, is here to test for grade placement due to the lack of schooling, is 17, and identifies as a boy but is currently a girl. Well we do not have gender fluid bathrooms except for the nurses office but what i can do is let you use a staff organized bathroom. It's a single use bathroom so you won't have to deal with other students for gender usage. Past that i see that you will need to take the assessment, that typically takes anywhere from 2-4 hours for most students. We can not help you on this test for its showing us what you do and do not know. Its all on the computer but you can have a notebook and pencil provided. This test is 650 questions but its because we test on math, english, science, history, and economics mostly. There is a few questions here and there that are about other subjects but that's more of fitness, choir, and other extracirruclar activities that if you excel at we can place you in. If you do not know the answer to a question you can either guess, or press return to later. If it comes back around and you still don't know the answer, press the I don't know button at the bottom. If you miss click you can always go back by pressing the question number up top and when the drop box drops down click the question you want to return to. Once you are finished it will let you choose whether you want to review your answers or finish. Once you are done and want to turn it in fully press finish and then talk to me or the office lady. If neither of us are around just wait in this room and one of us to check on you. We will also check up on you during the assessment to see if you need anything. If you have to use the restroom, press the pause button next to the number question box and enter the door over there. I will need to take your cell phone as we dont want any form of cheating happening; Not that i think you will it's just a precaution we take. Any questions before we get started?"

I shook my head no and prepared myself for the excessively long test. She grabbed a computer off a cart and signed into it. Once she was done she grabbed a notebook and placed a cup of freshly sharpened pencils to the side and placed one on the notebook. I handed her my phone that she passed onto nathan to hold onto.

"You can come sit in my chair and i will show you to the front office Mr. Hoffer." She gestures me to her chair. "Just click start when your ready." i looked at nathan giving him a smile.

"You got this Max, just take your time read each question carefully and don't rush yourself. Take all the time you need and after this no matter what you score ill take you to wherever you want to eat. I know you'll do great." He hugged me and walked with the principal back to the office area. I sat down getting comfy and pressed start.
