After awakening Lilo watched as Nina kissed the other her. It went on, Lilo thought, for far longer than necessary and she was close to despair already, when Nina dropped the string. Then as if that was not enough torment, Nina and the not-Lilo talked for hours, pointing out constellations in the sky. Neither of them spared a glance at Lilo's spying mushroom.
Unable to even bite her lip as her despair quickly melted to jealousy she forced her filaments further towards them. It was reckless to push this hard into the fungal body after only just escaping but she needed somewhere to put the grief and anyway what did it matter?
Lilo had been far happier lost. Who she had been would not care who Nina kissed. There was no place for human emotions in this body, she reflected. How could she bloom away her sadness or produce spores in bitterness?
However, whether it was best or not, in this moment Lilo was human and what human Lilo cared for more than anything was Nina.
So terrified she allowed herself to fall back into the mycelium's grip, the memories of the world undone making her sprint into the future. Endless possibilities collided with her. It was impossible to make out anything when the world would warp with each heartbeat of current time. There was one moment time shifted over more than anything though.
The moment when her body killed Nina.
