"That's him?"

"That's him."

San's eyes followed Ah Reum's gaze. The guy wasn't that much taller than her, or him. But he did give off an aura. An irresistable one that even San couldn't pull away from. He couldn't see his face but he could already see from his back profile the sheer confidence that he exudes. He was accompanied by what seemed like an entourage as they laughed loudly, earning bashful stares from a group of girls nearby.

"What's his name?" San asked Ah Reum.

"Wooyoung."

At that moment, as if he heard his name being called, Wooyoung turned. As San watched Wooyoung's smile widen at the conversation he and his friend shared, the said man locked eyes with San.

San gasped, quickly collecting himself and uncomfortably looked away, feet shuffling beneath him. San gritted his teeth, discomfort obvious on his scrunched up face.

"Don't tell me you know him," Ah Reum said.

San shrugged, peeking out from behind his long hair.

"I might. Kinda. I don't know."

San watched Wooyoung enter the classroom next to his. Ah Reum slammed her hand against the lockers.

"What! The new guy I'm crushing on is your friend?" Ah Reum yelled.

San winced, quickly covering her mouth before she could attract anymore unwanted attention.

"We knew each other. I think. I'm not sure if it's him. "

San turned to look at his best friend, her mouth open in disbelief. She was completely oblivious to the stares she was receiving for her sudden outburst.

"What do you mean you're not sure?"

San shrugged again, running his hand through his hair. He did look like Wooyoung. That Wooyoung. But he seemed different. Or it could just be that he's a grown up version of how San had remembered him as.

"I don't know. He just looks different. He seems different too. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think that's the Wooyoung I know," San trailed off, lost in his own thoughts.

There's no way that's the Wooyoung he knew right? The Wooyoung who, as a kid, had greeted San for the first time with a laugh after watching the latter fall off the slide. The Wooyoung who was the one who had taken the blame for a fight that San had started in elementary school. The Wooyoung who had always lent San his homework minutes before class started. The Wooyoung who had been there for him when San's mom passed. The Wooyoung whom he had left when he moved away at the age of 15. That Wooyoung.

"Hello. Earth to San?"

San snapped out of his thoughts, seeing a hand wave in front of his face.

"Something about the way you looked at him is telling me that you guys were more than just "knowing each other"," Ah Reum's fingers made air quotes.

San rolled his eyes.

"C'mon San. Help me talk to him please. He's so cute and I just really want to have a conversation with him," Ah Reum pleaded, tugging on San's sleeve. Her eyes opened wide as she pouted like a kid. San chuckled. Ah Reum always knew he had a soft spot for her puppy eyes.

San sighed. "Fine. But you owe me."

"Yay! Thank you! You know I love you right?" Ah Reum smiled into his arm as she hugged it tightly.

San's smile faltered for a fleeting moment before he collected himself.

"You only say that when you want something from me," he joked.
