Chapter 29: WICKED Tower ✔️

Kaylee leads Newt and I inside the tower. We get through security without any red flags. We wait for Teresa and Thomas by the door, just looking around. Teresa walks in with Thomas, in full WICKED uniform, walk in right behind her. They also get through security clean.

"Hey, Teresa." Kaylee says to Teresa before turning and starting to lead us through the building. She leads us down a set of stairs to a hallway. We continue walking down the hall when a guard starts walking in front of us. By the height I can tell it's Gally.

Teresa uses her key card to let us in the stairwell. We start going downstairs.

"Whoa, whoa. I can do this." Gally says, putting his hand on an electrical box, hanging on the wall.

"Throw me the walkie." Thomas says, pulling his mask up.

Gally throws Thomas and me both a walkie talkie. Thomas grabs his and starts going downstairs. I grab mine and go up the stairs to make sure we're alone. When I come back down, Teresa's sitting on the steps going downstairs with Kaylee, Gally is still working with the electrical box, and Newt had pushed his mask up and is breathing a little hard while leaning against the railing.

Newt starts coughing and his face is wet from sweating. I see Teresa looking at Newt a little concerned. I walk over to him and pull my mask up. I put my hand on his cheek.

"Newt, look at me." He looks up and into my eyes. "Just hold on, please."

He nods as Thomas runs back up the stairs. "Fry, how you doing?" Thomas asks into the walkie.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm getting there." Fry's voice comes through our walkies. "Tell Minho, 'hi' for me."

"Alright, buddy." Thomas says as Gally pulls the electrical box door open.

"This'll work." Gally says with a nod.

"Brenda, Toby. What's your status?" Thomas asks through the walkie.

"Working on it." Toby's voice comes through our walkies this time.

"Copy, just make sure you're ready on your end." Thomas replies.

"Don't worry, you know I'm gonna be there." Brenda answers this time.

"Alright, let's go." Gally says, closing the electrical box. We all pull our masks back down before going down the stairs. We get out into the hall before running, Kaylee leading us.

She stops outside a door and nods to it. She takes her key card out of her pocket, but before she can swipe it, the doors slide open to reveal a guard.

Thomas fumbles with his gun before shooting the guard. He falls to the floor, electrocuted by the shot. Gally, Thomas, Newt, and myself all go in, shooting the other guards. Once they were all on the ground, Kaylee and Teresa come in.

The room we're now in is circular with multiple doors leading into more rooms. In the middle is a security desk. I walk over to one of the doors, looking in the window. I use Teresa's key card and unlock the door, pulling it open.

All the kids in the small bunk room step back, afraid of me. I pull my mask off so they can see my face and I see them physically relax a little. "Come on." I say, stepping to the side so they can come out. They all look at each other before filling out. 

Once the last kid is out I look around the room. Thomas, Newt, and Gally had opened the other doors, letting the other kids out. 

Gally walks over to one of the guards and puts a gun to his head. "The vault? How do I get in?!"

"You can't." The guard replies. Gally lets go of the guard and walks over to the vault, trying to figure out what to do to get it open.

"Guys." We all turn to look at Gally. "This might take some time."

Thomas looks in all the bunk rooms. "He's not here." He says madly. He walks over to Teresa. "Where are they?!"

Teresa looks confused. She goes over to the computer and puts her password in before looking for his file. She finds it and clicks on it. "Somebody moved him and Kat up to the medical wing." She says before looking at Thomas. "Thomas, that's on the other side of the building."

"Okay, take me." Thomas says, grabbing his mask. "Right now."

"Alright, I'm coming with you." Newt says, grabbing his mask.

"No, Newt, you're not." Thomas says, looking at Newt, seriously. "You have to stay here and wait with Gally for the serum."

"You can't do this on your own." Newt reasons. "Minho comes first, remember?"

"Newt, let me go with him." I say, stepping forwards. "Wait with Gally."

"Just let him go, you're wasting time!" Gally yells from the vault door. "I'll get the serum and we'll meet you out back."

"Okay, fine, let's go." Thomas says, glancing at Newt. The three of them leave.

"Hey, Greenie!" Thomas looks back at Gally. "Good luck!" Gally yells as Thomas nods before running out of the room. 

"Kaylee? How do you get to the lab?" I ask, looking towards her.

She looks up confused. "The lab? Why do we need-"

"Just tell me!" I interrupt her.

She sighs before giving me directions to her lab, which is the closest.

"Gally, hurry that up. I'll try to meet you out back!" I yell before running out of the room. 

I follow Kaylee's directions to a door with 'Kaylee Ross' on the door. I use the key card she gave me to unlock it. I push the door open and put my gun by the door before looking around, grabbing what I need. 

I find a microscope on the desk.  I find a slide with a little of the Flare on it and grab it, putting it on the stage of the microscope. I put my eyes in the eyepieces and look at the virus for a second. I pull out and grab the syringe I found. 

I stick it in my arm and draw a little blood before adding it to the slide. I look into the eyepiece again as the blood starts slowly eating away at the virus.

I can't help, but yell in delight. "Yes!"

Bad idea.
