I wake up to the sound of talking outside my window. It was kind of muffled since my window was closed but I could hear two people. I go over to the window and look outside. I could see Cam a little ways away from the house, Iris Messaging someone. I couldn't really make out who it was. I open the window and yell out to him, "Hey, Cam, who are you talking to?"
He jumps, looks back at me and then quickly shakes his arms around, getting rid of the Iris Message. "Talking to someone? What? Pfft.. no." He puts his arm up to lean against the nearby tree but he missed and fell on the ground. "How long have you been up?"
"I just got up. And by the way, you're a terrible liar." I laugh as I watch him get up. "I'll make us some coffee and we can talk about whatever you're hiding!" I smile, closing my window and running to the kitchen. While I'm making coffee, I hear the door open and close slowly but I don't hear any footsteps. "Cam, if you're trying to sneak away then you suck at it. I heard the door."
He groans. "I wasn't talking to anyone." He sits down on a stool as I hand him his coffee and I continue to make mine. When I finish, I sit next to him and just stare at him. I knew Cam well enough to know that he would start to feel guilty and nervous if I kept staring at him. "I know what you're doing."
"I'm doing something?" I put my chin in my hand as I stare at him, wide-eyed. "I'm just looking at you, Camberlin. Unless you have something you want to admit.."
His leg starts shaking and I knew it was working. "Sunny, it's not working." Yes, Cam, I think it is.
"I have no idea, what you're talking about. I'm not-"
"Oh my Gods, just stop, Sunny! You know that makes me all nervous!"
"Because you're terrible at lying to me! So just tell me the truth!" We were both raising our voice so I'm sure we woke Rian up. My grandparents are probably at the bakery. We weren't angry, we just sometimes shout for no reason.
He stays silent but continues shaking his leg, staring at me nervously. He breathes in quickly, "Oh Gods, fine! Just stop doing that!" I laugh.
"I'm honestly, just staring at you."
Cam rolls his eyes, "Your stare is intimidating." Then he clears his throat and sighs. "Anyways, since I know you won't leave me alone until I tell you, there's something coming in the mail for you. But I really can't tell you what it is."
If I wanted to find out, I could. "I like surprises so you don't have to tell me. Now I'm excited! Is it coming today?"
"If everything works out it will. There was some news that I needed to hear but you kind of interrupted.."
"Aw, now I feel bad."
"Sorry, it's not exactly your fault.. you didn't know."
"Shut up, you're blaming me in your mind."
"Kind of." He laughs and elbows me in the side. "Don't worry about it, Shay. I'm sure it's fine." He grins at me and I was happy that he wasn't mad.
"Thanks Cam." I laugh a little. We hear noises so we both look up to see Rian walking towards us, wide awake. "Goodmorning, Shay."
"Shay?"
"You'll have to get used to people calling you by your last name if you're gonna go to Camp Half-Blood."
"You're also going to have to get used to getting called something other than your actual name." Cam sips his coffee. "So goodmorning, Ryan Shaw."
"What are either of you talking about?" I laugh at Rian's confusion as he sits down with us.
