I sigh, going downstairs, hearing Cam call my name again. It's been 4 and a half months since I left Camp Half-Blood and Cam has been living with us ever since we got back. "Sunny!"
"I'm coming!" I shout back running to the living room where he sat lazily watching TV. He got sick last week and I've had to take care of him. Gram and Gramps have been helping out the new neighbors, who came while we were gone, at their bakery. It's just a small job but they get paid and Gram and Gramps seem to be really good friends with them. "Are you okay?"
I know Cam felt horrible when he first got sick but now I think he's faking it just so I have to do everything for him. I saw him dancing around the kitchen the other day but then he started coughing and sneezing so I wasn't sure if he really was still sick or not. I decided not to say anything. "It's the weekend which means we get a break from school... and that also means that we can bake cookies!" He says excitedly before coughing.
When school started back, my grandparents thought it would be better for us to get homeschooled instead of having to deal with the bullies and more monsters. "No, no, no! You're sick Cam, you can't bake cookies."
"Oh, so are you going to bake them?"
"Cam, you know baking cookies is a thing we always do together." I smile, trying to test him. Cam couldn't resist chocolate chip cookies. So, if he isn't really sick, then he'll admit it. "Of course I'm not going to make them without you! We'll just wait until you're better."
"What?! No!" He jumps up, out of his blanket. Unfortunately, he got tangled in it and fell to the floor. "I-I'm not sick!" He says, struggling to get up as I laugh.
"So you were faking it." I roll my eyes, crossing my arms. He nods. "For how long?"
"Three days.."
"You've been making me wait on you for three days! Cam!" I push him gently. "Just for that, I'm gonna bake the cookies myself and eat every one of them right in front of your face."
"No, Sunny!" He says. "I'm sorry."
I giggle. "Fine, we'll bake and enjoy them together." Then I smirk and he raises his eyebrows.
"What's the catch?"
"I get the last piece of pie."
"No!"
"Oh, so I'm guessing you don't want the cookies?" Cam could easily bake the cookies on his own but since the only time he's ever baked is with me, I've always tricked him into thinking that I memorized the recipe. I always look at the instructions on the box when he wasn't looking so he had no idea the instructions were there.
He groans. "You're evil!" He looks at the box of cookies and then at the fridge where the last piece of pie was. "Fine, you get the last piece of pie. Just help me make the cookies."
I grin as we begin to bake the cookies. Cam turns the radio on and we dance around the kitchen, singing and laughing while we bake. "I wish that I could wake up with amnesia! And forget about the stupid little things..." We were singing Amnesia by 5 Seconds Of Summer. It was ironic since I've actually had amnesia and I never want to have it again.
"Hey, Shay.." Cam says suddenly. I was mixing some ingredients with my back turned to him. "Shay."
"Wh-" I didn't get to turn around or finish my sentence when I felt something hit my back. "What the..?"
I turn around and see an egg shell on the ground. I touch my back and I make a face when I feel the yolk. Cam bursts out laughing. "I totally got you!"
He's lucky that I was still wearing my pajamas and not my regular clothes. I roll my eyes and grab the egg carton. I act like I'm putting it away but then I pull out an egg and hit Cam in the shoulder. "Ha! Payback sucks, huh, Camberlin?"
