Connor's eyes widen when he realizes that we're siblings. He looks at the picture again before backing away. "You're lying. My dad would've told me.. he would have warned me-"
"Warned you about what? That your sister would be here?" Cam speaks up. "Why? So you could run away farther than you did the first time?!" Why was he so angry?
"Cam!" I shout, glaring at him. "I'm sorry Connor.. Cam is just-"
Cam rolls his eyes. "No, Sunny! You don't need to apologize to him! He's the one who ran away in the first place!"
Cam and Connor were glaring at each other. I was completely confused. Did Cam already know I had a brother? "Clearly I'm missing something, so one of you needs to explain." I say, crossing my arms over my chest. Neither of them said anything. "Will both of you stop trying to act tough and tell me what's going on already?!"
Connor looks over at me before glancing at Cam again. "Don't worry about it. I'm leaving." He starts to walk to the door. I was about to stop him when there is another knock on the door. Connor stops and clears his throat. "That's for you."
I walk to the door and open it. My grandparents smile back at me. "Sunny, how has your day been?" Gram grins. She fully looks me up and down. "Sweetie, why are you so messy?"
"Cam and I had a food fight while baking cookies. Sorry about the kitchen.. but I promise we'll clean it up as soon as we get something sorted out." I say quickly, letting them inside.
Gramps opens his mouth to say something but then he sees Connor. "Did you make a new friend?" I study my grandparents' expressions. They look worried.
"Actually I met my brother. But I'm guessing by the look on your faces, you already knew?" I ask, looking between my grandparents and Connor. Then I look at Cam. "And you knew too, didn't you?" He looks guilty and I immediately know the answer is yes. "What were you going to do? Hide him from me forever?"
"Honestly, I don't think any of us thought he was going to come back." Cam mumbles.
"Trust me, if it weren't for my father, I wouldn't have even thought about coming back." Connor rolls his eyes. "Out of all the things he had to miss out on telling me.. it had to be the part about the annoying satyr."
Cam was going to say something back but I get annoyed. "Stop arguing! I still don't know what's going on and we're all going to stay here until you tell me!"
"I'm sure your know-it-all satyr can tell you all about me."
"That's enough!" I shout again. "Look, none of us are going to get anywhere if we keep arguing. So, let's all just calm down and we can talk things out. Okay?" Gram and Gramps were already sitting down on the couch. I look at Cam and then Connor. "Okay, Cam? Okay, Connor?"
They both nod and we all sit down, despite Cam and I being covered in food. "Did you call him Connor..?" Gram asks.
"Yeah, why?"
"I thought the name sounded different." Cam says and looks from my brother to me. "That's not his real name."
I sigh and put my head in my hands for a few seconds. I look up at all of them, "Okay, let's start over. Hi, I'm Sunny Shay. These are my grandparents and my best friend, Camberlin. You can call him Cam. Who are you? And I'd like a completely honest answer this time."
"My name is Rian Shay." He says. "When I left, I wanted a fresh start. And keeping my name wasn't going to help. Especially with our mom trying to find me."
"So you went by Connor Matthis when you ran away?" He nods. I sigh, looking around. "Why'd you leave?" I was scared of the answer.
I stare at him but he doesn't say anything. I look at my grandparents and Gramps finally speaks, "Your mother... when she found out that she was pregnant with you, she tried to tell Rian. But he didn't like the idea of having a sister. He said that since his dad was never around, if he had a sister, his mom would hardly be there for him either."
