~Her tired eyes~ DISCONTINUED

Chapter 2

                                                                                 ~Let's hang out~

River stood infront of Esmeray with her hands latched together infront of her looking at the floor. Esmeray was cautious around her, just from knowing her for a few minutes she could tell River was in pain. From the way she stood stifly, trembling, jumping at every loud noise. 

Esmeray still hadn't seen River's face for she hasn't looked up from her feet since she turned around to face her.  Esmeray slowly moved her hand upwards to River's shoulder but hesitated and put it down.

I was hesitant to do or say anything. As I was about to say something River looked up at me. Her crystal baby blue eyes were dull and locked with mine. Her eyes tilted downwards in a sad, tired way, she had freckles, dark eye circles, and a scar across the bridge of her nose. I could feel the heat rise up in my cheeks as I gazed back at her. She looked away and hid her face again, but not before I noticed the shade of light pink blush in her cheeks.

 I chuckled. "so, why did you stay?" she looked back up at me at my question "oh.. I.. I don't know. I don't want to go home.. so that's part of my reasoning." she messed with the sleeves of her flanal "Ah.. well, if you want, we could go to the park? Maybe stop and get a snack?"

 I really wanted to befriend her, get to know her. But having an idea of what her life is like I could probably get her to make a deal. She took a minute to answer "sure... I'll head over to my friends house first though." as she spoke she pulled out her phone "here, I'll text you so we can make the plans." her voice was so soft and silent "oh, sure. I'll be sure to answer. take your time, no rush"  

We exchanged numbers and she bid me goodbye. I stood there for a minute longer after watching her fade farther and farther away. Not soon after my phone dinged and I looked.

River: Hey. Just texting you to let you know I saved your number

                                                                                                             Esmeray: Alright, did you make it there yet?

River: I'm one block away. 

                                                                                                    Esmeray: Alright. I'll text you the time and place

RIver: Okay. See you then

I texted her the place and time and went back to my place for a change of clothes.

I put my phone away and walked up to Axel's door and nocked.  A few minutes later he answerd. 

"Hey RIver." he gave me a welcoming smile "Been a while.. What brings you here?" I looked down at the floor "Have... Have you heard anything about.... Nightmare?" Axel was silent for a few seconds but hooked a finger under my chin and had me look up at him "Not yet.." he put his hand on my cheek and I leaned into it "I miss her." "I do to" 

We sat there hugging each other for a few minutes in grief for our missing friend. Nightmare was my best friend for years and suddenly went missing. She was bullied often at school, like me but she was strong. I missed her dearly.  "Axel?" "yeah?" he rested his chin on my head "Can I borrow one of your hoodies?" He chuckles "You mean more like steal?" I giggled softly "I don't steal them" I retorted in a joking maner "uhuh and pigs fly" he grabbed my hand and led me inside to grab a hoodie.

                                                                        ~Time skip: 2 hours~

Axel had fallen asleep on my lap while we watched a movie. I looked at my phone and it was twenty minutes till the time to meet up with Esmeray. I let out a sigh and got up carful not to wake up Axel. I sent him a text letting him know where I went and headed out down the street the next desired location.
