Now
Elektra and Mike waited patiently at the door to Liam's apartment. And waited. Elektra chickened out.
"Maybe he's not in..." she said anxiously, turning to leave.
"Elektra? He needs to know!" Mike exclaimed, before taking her hand in his.
She bit her lip in anxiety. Somehow she'd built up the courage to tell Liam the truth, but she didn't know how long it would last. If Liam hated her after this, then he had every right to.
But it would be one less burden, and one more step to getting Charlie back.
"Oh hi, Mike... Elektra..." Liam greeted, confused by the surprise visit.
They entered the apartment and Elektra gingerly sat on the edge of the sofa whilst Frank made them some cups of tea. She could hear her blood pulsing through her veins, the ticking noise in her head.
A cup was placed in her hands, and time slowed for a while. It was now or never.
Elektra turned to Mike. "I need to do this alone. Just me and him."
He understood and he motioned to Frank to leave with him.
As the door shut, Elektra sipped on her tea letting the warmth comfort her and alert her mind to her surroundings.
Liam looked at her carefully. "What's this all about?"
She took a deep breath and met his eyes, her own eyes full of conviction. "We need to talk about what happened..."
He placed his mug down with a start. "I thought we weren't doing this. I thought you wanted to move on."
"But I haven't moved on. Because there's something I haven't told you. Something which might make you hate me again, but I need to. You need to know what happened to me. All of it..."
And so she told him. How she'd been devastated at Melissa's death. How she'd moved in to look after Charlie and had found herself getting closer to Harvey. Until he raped her. The one thing she'd never said aloud.
She ran away. Put Charlie in care. Found herself at the feet of Callie who'd been ever so nice to her. But so different at the same time. Her supermarket job, her A-Levels, and then Liam.
"That's where you came in..." Elektra breathed, "And I thought everything was perfect again."
Liam was reduced to a shaking mess by now. "If I'd known..."
Now came the big reveal. Elektra couldn't watch Liam destroy himself any further. It wasn't his fault.
"I don't think you slept with Callie," she blurted out, grabbing his hand from his tear-stricken face.
Liam was confused. "What? But you saw me, I was naked and... you ran... like I was some disgusting..."
"Yeah, yeah I know. And I did for a while..." Elektra said, voice cracking, "But it didn't make sense."
"Callie and I were going out before we got together..." Liam replied quickly, "And I don't know how I got so drunk, because I hated her! She used me..."
"I know!" Elektra exclaimed, "Listen when I was looking for my bag that day, I found some COBRA stuff. And I only really stopped to look at it after. Liam, Callie was broke and the reason why she got you to help her in the first place was because your brother was a copper. The reason why he came back to London was because he'd heard about the situation with COBRA and he was investigating it. There was no fling with the Rovers that caused all this. Callie was still the head of COBRA, but she'd pissed off too many dealers so she needed another face to cover for her. Do her dirty work. You."
