My stomach hurts. My head hurts. Why can't I open my eyes? Is the sun too bright? No. Is there something in them? That's not it either. I think it's because... I don't want to.
"My name's Mieru Hochun. I'm a second year in high school. I'm doing well as far as grades go..." My voice trailed off as I read the paper in my hands. "But other than that I don't know what to say. Mr. Kuzuki?"
"Uh, right. Mieru I purpose you try speaking up more. You're a beautiful young woman with a beautiful voice. Use it." His hand placed itself on top of mine.
"Yes. Mr. Kuzuki."
The bell rang just as I stepped out of his classroom. I had some papers to deliver to the student council's office which is on the other side of the school.
I walked down the stairs to get to the main floor and made my way down the left hallway. With a skip in my step I looked for the room number I kept repeating in my head.
361, 361, 361...
Eventually I found the room in question and knocked ever so lightly upon the door.
"Come in."
I slid the door open and saw a red haired boy sitting on a chair facing the window. His feet were up on his desk as he sat. He turned around on his chair and lowered his glasses.
"These are from Mr. Kuzuki. He wanted me to deliver them to you." I said as I placed them down on a table.
"Thank you." He said turning back around.
I inhaled deeply. "...Goodbye." I said, about to leave.
"Wait. You said Mr. Kuzuki?"
"Yes." I said looking at him.
He stood up and flipped through the papers I left him.
"I don't remember asking him for help on this."
"Well what is it?" I said walking up to him.
"Budget paperwork. Don't get me wrong I don't care who it's done by, I'm just surprised as all. Any other time I've asked him for something he's turned me down."
"I see."
"But now the man seems to have a lot of free time after school. Maybe something changed."
"Changed?"
"Huh? Oh nothing. Forget it. Thanks for bringing these over."
He took them and placed them in a file holder before grabbing his jacket and taking off. Leaving me alone in the room.
The sun was setting so the walls around me were an amber colour. Golden hour was something else in the springtime.
"Oh. He forgot to close the window." I mumbled to myself as I walked over to close it.
When I'm alone I often find myself thinking out loud. But it's different with people around. They judge you, hurt you. I hate them. Humanity is truly a disgusting creation.
The next day came quickly just as it did every time.
Morning classes are the worst. It doesn't matter what class it is. It always sucks. Not because I dislike people in my class or my teachers. No it's nothing like that I just...
"Alright students take your seats." The teacher said as she walked into the classroom.
I lifted my head from my desk and squinted trying to see the blackboard.
I hate this...
The bell rang when class ended and I smiled to myself.
"Yo! Mieru! Are you going to the cafe today? I hear they have natto!" Chinen banged on my desk.
