Small Talk ~ Fundy x Eret

A/N: You guys really need to know that everything I write takes place before Wilbur died- I didn't realize how long it's been but Wilbur is canonically alive in all of my work, Schlatt doesn't exist, and the election (back in like September- Jesus) doesn't happen at all. So yes, my writing and canon characters are all outdated, and yes, it is going to stay that way.

A faint knocking sound perked Fundy's ears up. Silently, he wondered who it was while walking to the door excitedly. Just as he reached for the doorknob, a soft vibration and *ping* sound came from his pocket.

A notification from Dream through Discord, "ayo thats me outside come to the mall with us rn"

Fundy swung open the door and was met face-to-face with 2 people. Dream, of course was there. Along with Niki, his close friend and Fundy's neighbor. Further behind them, was Eret, someone that Fundy had only ever seen in the school halls, never spoken a word to. 

"'Kay let's go," Dream gestured towards a familiar car in the street.

Niki asked softly, "Wait, there aren't enough seats, are there?"

"I'll sit on someone's lap," Fundy said with a wink.

Everyone burst out laughing.

Dream finally composed himself, "That's a pretty good offer, but George is already sitting on mine, so we'll have space."

They all got into the car, Niki sitting in the middle since she's the smallest, and Eret driving since the car was his. Once everyone settled, Eret passed the AUX cord to Fundy, as he was right behind him, "Alright, what are we gonna play?"

Fundy plugged in his phone quickly and opened Spotify. Looking through his library, he quickly decided to put a random playlist on shuffle. Suddenly, the speakers started blasting.

Sapnap recognized the song instantly, and started sing-screaming along, "I WANNA SEE SOME ASS, I WANNA-"

George complained, "Oh god, not this again."

Everyone else was laughing hysterically.

The rest of the drive went similarly, just 6 of them messing around while Eret tried not to laugh so hard he'd lose control of the car.

Finally, they were at the mall. Quickly, Sapnap and Dream sprinted off to go to the Vans store. Niki said she was hungry and went to the food court to get a pretzel. So just Eret, George, and Fundy were together.

The three of them agreed to check out Forever 21 first, since it was right next to where they were. Nothing really stood out to George, but both Eret and Fundy were interested in a few things. 

"I'm gonna head over to find Dream and Ni- Sapnap, we'll all meet back here in, like, half an hour, you think?" George asked.

"Yeah sounds good to me." Fundy said, without looking up.

With that, George walked away, leaving Fundy with the one person in the group he'd never talked to before.

Fundy rifled through the dark-colored jeans until he found his size, then remembered that he had been needing new clothes lately. Quickly, he grabbed another lighter pair and stepped into the dressing room to make sure they fit.

He walked out and called to Eret, "Ay, these look like they fit me?"

Eret inspected the jeans for a moment, looking almost surprised and flushed, which confused Fundy. He finally nodded, "They look good to me."

Well, for first impressions Eret seemed nice. Fundy wondered why they'd never spoken before, while he walked back into the dressing room.

When he came back out, Eret wasn't anywhere he saw. Suddenly, he heard his name being called in the familiar deep, accented voice, "Yeah?" Eret called from the next dressing room, gesturing to a slim-fitting shirt that he'd put on.

Fundy wasn't one to check people out, but it was difficult not to. He looked up and down at the graphic beige shirt that gripped Eret's body, and almost forgot to respond.

"Mhm- l-looks nice." Fundy managed to squeeze out without getting flustered.

Eret, with pink on his cheeks and a smile on his face, went back into the changing room and put his other clothes back on.

They both walked over to the exit, making small talk.

Once they were outside, neither seemed to have any ideas of where to go next. They wandered aimlessly for a while, just comfortably talking and getting to know one another.

They walked through most of the mall, before the boys remembered that they would need to get back to regroup soon.

Checking his watch, Eret started, "Oh, it's been like 25 minutes. We should probably get back to where we're meeting them-"

"Mhm"

They changed directions and continued with their chatting. They had more in common than Fundy imagined. 

The rest of the day passed in a blur. Fundy and Eret were distracted by eachother, talking and forgetting about the entire world around them.

Something about Eret was so comforting to Fundy. He was so similar to Fundy, but they still had good debates and conversations. Fundy felt almost addicted to the way they were together. 

It was almost 6pm when they finally ventured back into the car. Niki walked home, since she lived really close to the mall.

"Hey, why don't we pick up Will and Jack and crash at my place?" Eret suggested.

"Sounds good if you're up for it," Sapnap replied.

"Sick, let's go."

Will and Jack's houses weren't too far away, thankfully.

It wasn't until we picked up Jack that we realized the flaw in our plan.

"Uhm- who's gonna sit where...?"

"Oh- uhh I think all of us can fit if we really try...?" Jack suggested weakly.

They all packed into the car. They barely fit, but it was enough for them.

Fundy was pressed up against Sapnap. Their faces just a few mere inches apart. Before Fundy had even processed it, the car was moving.

Sapnap looked over at Fundy a few times, and Fundy did the same.

About halfway through the drive, Sapnap and Fundy made direct eye contact, their noses practically touching. Sapnap smirked with an idea. He quickly stuck his tongue out and brushed the tip of Fundy's nose, just enough to startle him.

Suddenly, Dream burst out into uncontrollable laughter. But he hadn't been looking at Sapnap, he was staring at the driver.

"Oooooh, somebody's jealous" he called mockingly at Eret, still giggling.

"No I'm not-" Eret defensively answered, clearly lying and flustered.

"Oh please, even I can see it and I'm all the way back here," Will added from beside Jack.

"This isn't faaaair you guys are ganging up on me" Eret pouted.

The conversation eventually dissipated, everyone still finding the humor in the air.

They were almost to Eret's house, when Fundy was staring into the mirror.

Eret caught his gaze and they silently looked at each other for a moment. Suddenly, Eret winked at him, still making eye contact but with a slight smirk on his face.

Fundy instantly choked and doubled over. Eret was laughing maniacally and nobody else knew what was happening.

"Wh-" Dream was caught off guard by the sudden uproar.

"N-nothing-" Fundy answered. This time, he was the one clearly lying, as his whole face was flushed pink.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at Eret's house.
