CHAPTER 4: The Prodigy

Birds chirping.

Sun shines brightly. It's a new day already, will everything be okay?

"Good morning Bodhi," greeted Li Hua, "Good morning Shen," she added, "rise and shine boys. We need to rush to the orphanage now. 

Bodhi, who's still confused try to grasped the situation, remembering what made him end up in a different house with different people. "Oh, hello" he politely mumbled while repositioning his body towards Shen. "Good morning gege, I am Bodhi, what's your name?" He finally asked.

"Good morning Bodhi," Shen whimpers as he yawn. "You can call me Shen-ge," he continued. 

"hello Shen-Ge, where are we going?"

"Mama said we'll go to the orphanage now,"

"I am an orphan now ge, will I live there?"

"No you won't, you'll stay here with us, you have me and mama, you'll never be an orphan,"  

"Am scared ge, please protect me?"

"Don't worry, here, take my hand, let's wash up first and eat our breakfast.

The two boys started to conversed in such a matured manner. They easily get along, and now Bodhi's very clingy to his older brother Shen.

"I am still sleepy gege, do we really have to go now?"  The boy asked.

"Mn," Shen answered while washing his face.

The three of them left for the orphanage already. This time, Li Hua is driving her red, Xiali 7100 Charade car. It was an old car which she successfully bought for a very low price. It's old, but still working.

"Buckle up, boys. We're speeding." she warned.

The two were safely fastened from behind the car. Bodhi, who was still sleepy a while ago, is now wide awake and looking outside.

"I miss my mom and papa, ayi, I miss them so much,"

Li Hua, after hearing this felt a sudden grip from her heart. She knows how it's like to be alone. 

"I am here Bodhi, Shen-ge is here too, I know we can never replace your mom and papa, but we'll do our best to cheer you up. Ayi's here baobei." mumbled with a teary eye. "Ayis's here," 

Shen tried to reach for Bodhi with his other hand and grab the hand.

"Don't worry, You have me now, gege is here, you have a brother now." he added.

Bodhi looked at Shen with a puppy eyes, He misses his parents so much but he don't understand why he is happy to have a brother so suddenly. He's happy to have ayi and Shen-ge.

"Mn," he answered.

Soon they reaches the orphanage and Li Hua carefully parked her Xiali 7100 in a vacant spot.

"Let's go now," she called.

They entered the orphanage, they were greeted by the other workers and other orphans who are now still having their breakfast.

"Li daoshi (supervisor)" called Tan AnAn, another worker from the orphanage. "Is this the little boy from the news?" she added.

"Yes, AnAn. This is Bodhi, Bodhi say hello to Lao (teacher, a form of respect) An,"

"Hello lao An, Āyí jiào wǒ pútí (Ayi named me Bodhi)," The little boy responded.

"Nice to meet you! I heard you're really a smart boy, why don't you come with me, I want you to meet  Dong Fang yīshēng (doctor, a psychiatrist in this case) he just want to check on you. " Lao An explained.

"Ayi, I'm scared," said Bodhi.

"Can I come with him? I don't have any classes yet." Shen asked.

"That's a good idea, Shen! mom's just gonna go to the office and secure some paperwork of Bodhi, okay? I'll meet you two later, Lao An is going to take you and Bodhi for his evaluation. Stay with him, would you?"  She ended and ran off while waving her left arm. 

Bodhi, Shen and Lao An proceeded to the psychiatric room at the end of the hall. There, doctor Fang is waiting for Bodhi.

knock knock... a gentle sound on the door. "please come in," the doctor said.

"Well, hello there!" greeted the doctor. "Is this the Bodhi I've heard from the grapevine?" He added.

"Good morning doctor, yes, this is our Bodhi," Anan exclaimed. "I will now leave you and Shen here, okay?" She bids her goodbyes.

"How are you doing, Shen?  The doctor greeted Shen.

"Good morning , Am doing good but Bodhi here is very scared. He asked me to come and join him, will that be okay? Don't worry, I'll just stay here at the corner."  He explained.

"That's fine with me, Shen." Doctor Fang added.

"Now, can you come here, young man?" referring to Bodhi. He grabbed the boy by his armpits and put him onto his lap. "Now, can you tell me about yourself?  He said.

He continued to ask Bodhi different questions and the boy tried to answer everything. He was amazed on how good the memory of the boy is, He tried to give Bodhi different kinds of psychiatric test and he can't believe that all turned out to be normal. It's very rare to see someone like Bodhi, he told Li Hua when she picked up the two boys after finishing some paperwork. 

"He is quite different, his IQ level 138, and it is extremely high,"  doctor Fang amusingly tells Li Hua. "He even asked me if this test can make any change. He's really special." the doctor added.

"I'm sure he is, we were also shocked especially the police officers, when they asked him about what he witnessed during the assault. He vividly told them everything, from the clothes each were wearing, the car they're driving, the place and time it happened, the expressions of his parents before passing. Everything. I'd be totally blacked out if that was me, but Bodhi's different. He is really special and that made me more want to take care of him." Li Hua exclaimed.

" I hope the matter of the killings will be solved the soonest possible, so that our Bodhi here will have clearer understanding why his parents were killed. Please take care of him."  The doctor clarifies.

The day's still long, and the boy has still a long way to go, with the help of Li Hua, Shen and the other in the orphanage, may his parents killing be solved the soonest possible.

May their soul of our dead loved ones, rest in peace.
