~Two years later~

Sam and Trevor leaned over each other's reports and letters, and Trevor's heart sank to his stomach. "You're headed to Olympia, huh?" he asked.

Sam nodded, staring at his letter of acceptance. "And You're headed to Portland." Not a question, but it needed confirmation.

Trevor popped his head up in a moment of excitement. "We'd be almost an hour and a half away."

Sam looked at Trevor and cocked his head to the side. "How do you know that?" he asked.

Trevor's mind went blank. "Uh, Google?" he replied.

Sam raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

Trevor sighed, giving in to Samuel's criticism. "Okay, during the summers and winter holidays in middle school, I traveled between Olympia and Portland to visit some family," he admitted.

Sam chuckled as he shook his head. "Well, we could make it work."

Trevor smiled. "We'll figure things out. We just need to get a look at your class schedule and we'll go from there."

Sam smiled in return. "Of course."

They shared a kiss.

Then another.

And another. And another. And soon they found themselves on the floor of Trevor's room, with the door closed, and Trevor on top of Sam.

Trevor unbuttoned Sam's shirt from collar to end, one button at a time. Sam let loose a small moan with each loose button, his shirt loosening around his chest and torso.

Once the last button was undone, he moaned as Trevor's gentle hands grazed his skin to push the sides of the shirt out of the way.

Trevor broke the kiss to speak. "You're so soft," he whispered. Sam slipped a hand underneath Trevor's shirt and it was Trevor's turn to let loose a moan. "And gentle," Trevor added.

Sam gave a deep chuckle. "Only for you," he said before locking their lips once more.

Trevor slipped the sleeves on Sam's button-up shirt off of Sam's shoulders, and the smaller boy moaned at the pleasure.

Sam slipped off the sleeves from his arms and sighed at the freedom. He attempted to take Trevor's shirt off when a knock came from the door.

"Sam? Trevor? It's time for you two to come out and join the party. We can't celebrate he graduation without the guests of honor," Samuel's mom called.

Sam and Trevor stood from the floor to fix themselves to be even barely presentable to other friends and family. Sam fixed his hair and grabbed his suit blazer after fixing his shirt as well.

Trevor fixed his own shirt and followed Sam downstairs to join the party.

After most of the food had been eaten, Sam and Trevor lingered off to the side, watching the guests and they're kids playing and talking amongst themselves in the back yard.

"So..." Sam started. "Your parents are divorced..."

Trevor nodded and Samuel continued. "For how long?"

"Just under a year," Trevor answered.

Samuel went quiet, and Trevor looked over to see a sad face. "Why the sad face?" he asked.

Samuel shrugged. "I just feel bad because I seem to have come in and ruined your relationship with your parents."

Trevor almost scoffed. "Don't feel bad, Sam. Besides, it's better than having no parents to support me at all."

Sam nodded. "That's true."

"There's also another thing."

Samuel looked over at Trevor and cocked his head to the side. "What is this other thing?"

Trevor pulled Sam close, wrapping an arm around Sam's waist. "I've got you."

A smile bloomed on Sam's face, and the two shared a brief kiss before two other kids got into a fist fight over the last cornbread muffin.

Several months later, Samuel stood beside his car, getting ready to hit the long road to Olympia, when Trevor came up to say his goodbyes. "I'm going to miss you..." he said.

"I'm going to miss you too. It'll be a long hour and a half for you to drive all the way to Olympia," Samuel replied.

Trevor shrugged. "I can stand an hour and a half. It'll be worth it just to see you."

Samuel chuckled and they shared a kiss before Sam got into the car and pulled away, watching as Trevor faded out of view in his rear mirror. Sam sighed. "Here we go," he muttered, turning on the radio to fill the silence.

Halfway to Olympia, Samuel stopped at a small town and grabbed a bite to eat before hitting the road again. His phone buzzed as he took a bite of a sandwich he'd bought, and glanced over to see Trevor's name on his phone screen. He picked it up and read the message.

I miss you already <3

Samuel smiled and he put down his sandwich to type a reply. Lol. Miss you too, babe <3. The first time he'd ever used a pet name for Trevor, and his heart wanted to be with Trevor again. Trevor's reply came not a moment later. I love you.

I love you too.

When Sam was done with his sandwich, he left after paying for his meal, and went out to his car to continue driving. It was going to be a long drive, even with the radio on.
